Another HUGE BLOOPER!!! (Timewise...)

Okay, this is hard to explain but here goes: During Frank's first encounter w/ Sarah Chalke (Paula) he says he has been happily married for EIGHT years.... but Jessie, his daughter, is 7 yrs. old, meaning Susan became pregnant a little over a year after they married. HOWEVER, at the beginning of the movie, when he and Buddy are standing at the bar at the New Year's Eve party, alluding to 'Teddy's party the week before' (which is when Susan and Buddy had their one and only encounter resulting in Jessie) that was clearly BEFORE Frank and Susan had gotten married, or even started dating!!! Sooo... this all implies Buddy and Susan slept together over 8 yrs. ago, in fact probably 9 yrs. since that New Year's eve scene was clearly long before the marriage - you can tell that Frank and Susan are just then starting to date. Which doesn't make sense b/c Jessie is 7.

Did anyone else notice this??? This is either a huge time screw-up by the writers OR..... did I miss something?? Should we also assume that Buddy and Susan hooked up (and she got prego) AGAIN, about one year into her and Frank's marriage??? Remember Jessie is 7, but they've been married EIGHT years.... Does anyone else get this??? Thoughts, please.

I don't really want to do the math right now, but it seems possible to me that she could have been conceived before they got married, and the movie could just be set in that sweetspot right between their anniversary and her birth? I mean, it's improbable, but it's the only explanation I can think of.

He was really drunk people slip up when drunk

She was conceived in December and born in August. They probably got married that January and probably slept together that New Year's night. So, when he talked to Paula, they had been married for 8 years and Jessie would be turning 8 that coming August.

i think it's just a movie

i wouldn't consider that even remotely close to HUGE BLOOPER!!!

The thing i never got it was the time thing, this movie was supost to be about The Butterfly Effect aka Chaos Theory. I don't understand how the fact that he lost the ferry has anything to do with hooking up with Paula (blond chick from scrubs), she was the real initial reason why he found out about his parenthood or lack of not the 10 minutes thing... The 10 minutes thing made him lose the ferry making him late one hour... only if Paula wouldn't be present in the first hour would that make any sense.

....he was angry that his wife made him late for his own seminar (tells buddy in the bar before meeting Sarah Chalke) and that's why he drinks, and agrees to drink those tangerine things with Sarah.

Agreed, this movie storyline didn't come close to Chaos Theory. No single event (wrongly setting the clocks back instead of forward) set off a chain of events that led to an outcome. Susan's mistake just made her husband late and the chain was broken when he caught the next ferry and arrived a few minutes late to his lecture.

Now "Sliding Doors" was a far better example of Chaos Theory, and far better acted, IMO.

The huge blooper was the the clock method. Ok, if you set the clock ahead you save time, you set it behind then you will be late. The error was when Frank mentioned to Buddy about setting the clocks ahead made him late. It was suppose to be that Susan set the clock behind not ahead to make him late and he was supposed to explain to Buddy at the bar that she set the clocks behind making him late.

Some might seem confused but think about it this way.

You have to leave at 430, you set your clock one hr ahead being 530, and dont look at the clock til that 430 deadline you are one hr early but if it was set to 330, and you don't see the clock til it says 430 then you'd be an hr late.
