Whats with Doc's Memory & a 2nd smaller detail question? Tiny Spoilers

Spoilers To Follow.....

I have seen this movie countless times on the Chiller Channel & Syfy (It's played quite a lot, so the first few times, I only caught the second half of the film, hoping that seeing it in total would clarify a few questions that I had. No it didn't...so maybe I am seeing a cut down version. If anyone understands what I either missed, or just didn't get, I would be very appreciative for any input.

First question.....
I wanted to know why the good Doctor has no recollection of the woods, house, vampires/or ghouls (whatever they are). More importantly, why doesn't he remember Alice? She obviously took pity on him when he was an injured child, injured in the accident that killed his folks. Her appearance hasn't changed in all that time, so being that the Doctor isn't an imbecile, I never understood how when he saw her again, after 45-50 years later, that he never thought, ah ha....I remember you! Anyone know why this was?

Second question.....
Dumber & likely just a plot hole, but I'll ask anyway cause it is bugging me. Alice finds our good Doctor when he was an injured child. She took him in, fixed him up and released him when he was healed. (This couldn't have occurred in 1 day (had to have been longer) This much I surmised by the fact that he was dragging his body from the wreckage, initially. Then when Alice says goodbye to him & gives him her necklace, he was completely healed. How was this possible, when the family of ghouls couldn't stand having any humans around for fear of setting them off on a blood lust? Was it the black tarry stuff?

Final question....
Seemed Doc got to go onto heaven, yet Alice was the only good creature in her family, that was there. Her hell seemed to go on & on. Any thoughts on why this was?
Thanks much for any input!
