What is this show?
What exactly is the tone and plot? Is it a sitcom?Or is it darker?
Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by rulers as useful.
its more of a drama. its pretty funny too. its very light, and usually really fun. its about brian (barry watson)and his relationships, his life, and the life of his closest friends. all the characters are very likeable and well developed. i strongly suggest checking out the dvd. after episode 1 you will be hooked, guaranteed.

does it have a proper ending (i mean no cliffhangers or open endings)?
sharethey left it so there coulddd be another season, but the final episode does leave an appropriate end, it won't be dissapointing. It's not a cliffhanger, it's more of an indication of what happens.....damn i think i need to re-watch this show, freaking love it.

sharefunny? wow...i don't think i laughed once. you can seee their "predicaments" ahead of time, so when something i guess that's supposed to be funny, happens, you just roll your eyes and think how predictable the writing.
i'd be interested to find out what parts/scenes you think are funny, and i'll tell you how you could have seen that coming.

and i also don't see how it's light. drama/tension over brian wanting marjorie. falling out between brian and best friend. drama over deena/david wanting to F others and their divorce. ongoing drama re nikki desparately wanting a kid, the joyful topic of the death of her cheating hubby [which we all saw coming - his death at least], the stereotypical tension between the lawyer and his stripper wife...
and i could go on.
i've got it on as background "noise" while i paint my house. most of the time i have to mute the volume cuz i'm tired of the whining. ya...i know...i have NO idea why i don't put something else on.
It's not necessarily specific scenes that are funny, (for me) it's the dialogue and character interactions. I find that the characters are so likeable that their quirks and personalities make me laugh...which may only be obtained by total focus on the whole series? who knows. little things like 'hey jimmy' make me laugh. maybe i just have a weird soft spot for the show, i've seen the whole series like 3 times (with friends), and im 23, male...so yea i think I do have a problem haha. and yes I agree it's a bit predictable, but I don't care. I find with almost every 'dramatic' situation there is always some light humor thrown in. Examples? I can't think of it, been a while...but the deena and dave thing, when he punched richard that was funny...theres tons i swear! lol
