This show better than Arrested Development?

How is this show more deserving to be on the air than AD? This choice still baffles me as to why FOX thought this was better.

reply

Heh, interestingly, I only started to watch this show 2 days ago, after someone told me it was "the best comedy ever" -- to which i replied "nu-uh, that was arrested development!".
I had no idea that Fox had dumped the one for the other!

By the way.. I was right. AD is by far better than this. It's still fun though.

I don't know, Butchie, instead.

They did not. Both were axed by Fox.

And, while I think Arrested Development is the greatest show ever, I still LOVE The War At Home, and wish it had gone on longer (like A.D.)

Not that you asked...

Wait a minute... who am I here?

I've seen about one and a half episodes of Arrested Development, was only mildly amused, and the answer's still a resounding no. No offence to the cast but the scripts are awful - okay Rapaport's pretty bad too. And from what I've heard AD needs a little time before you get the payoffs, plus I can see immediately that the cast and scripts are in a completely different league to War at Home.

I think The War at Home is a lot *funnier* than Arrested Dev. The writing is also smarter. Just sit down, and think about whether YOU can write something like that. I am able to write 10 pages of Arrested Dev (original work), but 0 of War at Home.

Again, I don't like Arrested Dev that much, it's way overrated.

Arrested Development only becomes amazing once you get to know the characters and learn all their quirks. I suppose that's why the show becomes 10x funnier the second time around.

reply

Exactly once you get to know the characters, it becomes one of the greatest shows ever. WaH didn't last long and never won any notable awards and was never called one of the greatest.

Just another dumb sitcom turned out for the masses of people not smart enough to understand the genius of AD.

What are you doing on the interent?! Get out to Hollywood and make a it rich with your talent of writing award winning TV shows like AD.... ur and idiot.

This is actually, hands down, one of the funniest things I've ever read on imdb. I don't have anything against The War at Home, it's a solid - if a little boring - sitcom. But Arrested Development was just completely in a league of its own and if you think you can write 10 pages of Arrested Development scripts I implore you - please do, there's millions of fans out there itching to hear more about the Bluths.

I know this post is old, but this comment needs to be revived. That has to be one of the best posts on all of imdb, I agree. Because what the hell does it mean?

That they wrote 10 pages of an original script unrelated to AD that was EQUAL to an AD episode in terms of laughs? That they wrote 10 mins of an actual AD episode and it was just as good as an entire AD episode? That it was equal to 10 mins of an AD script? That they wrote 10 pages of an actual AD script and 0 of a war at home ergo WaH is better?

What the hell are they talking about? What a post, just...incredible...

I think they're both great.
