I don't know about the accent or the radio show host but IIRC the Grey/Annie story was dropped along with several others. Ed O'Neill's character was in black ops who someone or some group in the government wanted to kill. The chopper crash was a means of showing flashbacks to Bob going through Selection. I don't know what you mean by "does not recognize jonas or mack" as the events in the flashbacks occur just prior to the pilot and he joins the team.
Bridget was already in Special Forces and could probably forego Selection as she mainly acted undercover or in a support capacity rather than combat. Selection seems to be about physical, psychological, reasoning, and trust tests. She demonstrated her trustworthiness & skills both while working undercover and watch tower. Alpha Team was down a man. Since she & the team were out of the country for several months prior to the events of the season 4 premiere they were considered above suspicion for the attacks on the VP and president-elect. It also didn't hurt to have a woman able to be in the field because, as afar as the people in the conspiracy with information about the unit knew, there were women in the unit.
