Anyone else think that Molly was very self-righteous and lazy?

At the beginning of the series she's a part-time realtor and probably doesn't make nearly as much money as she could. Her boss implies that she's on the bottom of the food chain because she's only part-time. When they need money to put her mother in a good nursing home she falls for the real estate scam and pays back her friends in the investment group which leaves her & Jonas broke. She then takes a job as a recruiter for Blackthorne and pretty much expects Jonas to retire from the army & work for Blackthorne to make a lot more money, even mentioning getting rich. Seems like they would've been in a better financial position if she worked as a realtor full-time or took the Blackthorne managerial job that was offered to her. She never goes all-in unless there's a big payout. It's mentioned that she and some of the other wives do charity work & "things in town" but all we really see of that is in Old Home Week and her & Tiffy's trip to Vietnam. How could she justify only working part time with her only child grown up, out of the house, & in college and relying on Jonas' modest army salary to pay the bills including their daughter's tuition?

They didn't have any more money problems and she was pretty busy with frequent relocation.

I think the Aerodyne cover came with a real salary so she didn't need to work anymore.

reply

Their relocation & cover identities did negate some story arcs but they only relocated once so it's wasn't frequent.

At least twice within a short time. She also started contributing to the missions. Point being she was busy and not lazy.

What was the other time besides the beginning of season 4? Only after that did she, and the other wives (save for Kim going with Bob in Morale, Welfare, & Recreation), was she involved in taking down the conspirators.

I forgot the exact season/episode but I thought the final location in Dallas (where the decoy nuke was headed) was not the same as the original relocation.

Even if I'm wrong though, Molly took initiative in the mission and she was the leader of the wives who all confided in her. Point being I don't think she was lazy.

Self-righteous, well her husband did promise a retirement at some point and it's been a long career, probably well past the point of full retirement benefits. It's just to show the familial pressures that long-serving operators have to deal with. Jonas had done more than his share and she wants to move on from the life of danger. Understandable.

They were never relocated to Dallas. It's just where Kim's parents lived and her & Bob's kids went to live with them. Alpha Team, their wives, and Mack & Tiffy's kids lived in Sierra Ridge (a fictional town in California) even after the conspirators in the area fled around the time of the chlorine gas attack but the team & wives were due to return to Fort Griffith. I think that could have been muddled by Colonel Ryan and Bridgette being seen in the TOC at Fort Griffith.

I can see why Jonas stayed in action but yeah he should have retired, collected full benefits, and take a far more lucrative, less demanding, and not at all dangerous position at Blackthorne.

Ok so back to the original topic, you still think the same about Molly?

reply

Yes. Part-time job despite Jonas' modest income and a daughter to put through college. When they needed to pay to keep her mother in a nursing home she fell for a real estate scam. She paid back the investment group from her & Jonas' saving (without telling him) and instead of taking a steady full-time job at Blackthorne or in real estate she becomes a recruiter for the former for infrequent finders' fees of a few grand.
