Question

Is this worth watching? I haven't seen this yet it was on my to-do

reply

Yes. I think it's worth even rewatching like I plan to do. I already miss the Winchesters.

A quality horror show with plenty of heart. The brothers have great chemistry and interesting characters were introduced throughout the show's run. The stories could be serious, but there was plenty of humor, too. A few quirky episodes are in the mix like the Scooby Doo episode. Funny dialogue especially from Dean.

I suggest you watch the shows in order since there is a progression in the story.

reply

Watch the series from the top, because otherwise you will miss a great deal of the story content, the relationship between the brothers, and the story arc's. Mythology is at its best when you watch the first five seasons, that said other seasons are very good. The series has had four show-runners, all had different ways that they wanted to tell their stories, all with different takes on the way they wanted to take the brothers. You have a huge number of episodes to get through 327 in total, so you will need a few marathon days back to back to catch up, have fun!

I think you will be hooked after the first couple of seasons, if you stick with it.

reply

I was hooked after only one episode.

First few seasons are likely worth it. Then you would be excused from walking away because there is a shift in gears and you'll notice it after season 2. The end of season 5 is a good place to walk away unless you are really hooked because it provides a good closure up to that point, and when it goes beyond season 5 there are some real stinker seasons.

You can't knock all the seasons, there was some pretty damned good ones in there too. Remember Cain, remember the mark of Cain, Demon Dean, Crowley sacrificing himself to save the boys. Yes, the first five seasons are reported to be some of the shows best, but that doesn't mean we didn't have some great story telling afterwards, it wasn't all doom and gloom.

reply

No, the were a few shows after season 5 that were decent, but it also got into the no one every really dies bullshit and the redemption of every bad guy that the show runners thought fans liked. There was nothing more annoying than them suddenly inviting someone into their gang that had in previous shows killed multiple people some of which were their friends and then it is as if they had amnesia and forgot all about it. Watching the seasons after the 5th start getting you into J.J. Abrams territory where the show runners ignore canon of the show and start going all over the place.
