Drag Me Away (From You)

Where to start... I like it was a Sam and Dean episode, but I don't understand why the keep doing fillers mixed in with 5 minutes of weak build up to the end (?)

I like the idea of going back to a young Dean and Sam, but I didn't fully buy the year and the ages of the boys, especially Dean. 1993, I would assume Dean is 14 here and Sam would be 9 or 10. But I kind of wish they were 8 and 12 in 1991 as they both look at that age. Caitlin and Travis also look in that age range. The one boy who played a younger Dean in the earlier seasons was more Dean than the kid who portrayed a younger Dean in this episode. Young Sam didn't have much to do in this episode, but his portrayal was just OK. I like the "idea" of the case, unfortunately it didn't seem to tell us much or go anyway with it.

We barely learned anything about this witch thing. I was really hoping we'd get a nice parallel of back then and now. We mostly tip toed around anything and everything to give us a decent well rounded mystery/story of the witches lore. Like the last episode, it felt like many details within the case was missing. Why is the witch thing back now? Because Travis showed up with the ring? Who told him to go back and why? Why did the witch appear as a young Travis and then a young Dean, but then appear to Caitlin and Dean as a dead older Travis...why change the pattern? If this thing is SO hungry, why did it only kidnap Caitlin? Also, the ring story didn't make much sense. Caitlin said their mother gave it to Travis, or was that Travis lying after taking the ring after Young Dean cut it off spirit witch(?) Dean seriously just ignored the ring on the ground??? Are these stories puzzles now? We must connect the dots ourselves? Overall, it was OK, but so slow, very little details like they used to.

Then there's Billie's appearance. It served no purpose. I don't understand why she's sharing her "this is as far as I go in the books" - I would think you could change that Billie, but your neutral, however you're still giving small details. And why would she be upset if Dean didn't tell Sam about Jack's bomb yet. "Everyone has to be on board" well, you didn't tell them Billie, so why should you push it? It feels so forced. You could argue with me that Billie cant intervene, but she has been, preparing Jack to kill Chuck, is intervening. Talking to Dean is intervening.
This season is like Once Upon a Time Season 7. It's not all that good, it's not like it used to be, it makes very little sense, there's some familiar faces still around, but it's something.

As soon as you mentioned the ring, my mind dragged me back to the season 5 finale. Remember the pit and the ring? They needed the ring to open it. Is this a trigger again for something much bigger? Is this the key to open that lock again into that black hole that looked like a pit?

Will type more later when I've seen it. Yes Billie does intervene, frequently if that answers your question?

I thought it was interesting they went back in time and it took me a bit to get the puzzle pieced together. When young Dean found the bodies his first action was to protect Caitlin and Sam from seeing them. Older Dean said that younger Dean then called the police about the bodies as he didn't want to frightened them. They thought they had killed the monster and very likely it would have never returned if older Travis hadn't repaired the ring. Then he went back to the hotel room to face his fears and it appeared demanding the ring back. Felt bad that Travis was then killed. Not sure why it returned as dead Travis vision to Dean unless it was trying to guilt Dean into killing himself which per the vision he was about to do. Sam stopped it in time. I did tape it and will look again to see if dead Travis was wearing the ring or still had it hanging around his neck.

Since they thought they had killed it in their younger selves why would they wonder about the ring. It wasn't until older Sam started researching that they discovered it was the ring that was the force behind the monster. As to taking Caitlin maybe it was keeping the killing all in the family before it could move to the next victim. I don't remember if the missing photos said the children were related.

I was wondering why Billie said this was a far as she could go. But since she can only reap souls apparently she has to be on the sideline while the "battle" goes down. As for Dean not telling Sam it's the same ole pattern between the guys. They don't tell the other about anything especially Dean and that has always bothered me. When Billie said to fix it I figured it was something according to the book that the guys have to do together. If Sam didn't know about Jack he might have done something to prevent Jack from killing Chuck. At least that's how I read the scene.

Wow I haven't written this much in a long time. Hope it wasn't too rambling.

Forget my other thought about the ring being a link, they smashed it so rather pointless in even thinking about it.

I enjoyed it, and liked new young Sam and Dean, not my favourites though. It was a good story, and the ending really killed me and tore me in two. Dean keeping that from Sam, don't they EVER learn about keeping secrets. Sam is really mad, and I can see why. Where is this now gonna lead. Sometimes I could kick Billie, as she knows that Sam and Dean work as a team, and its like she's only wanting to deal with one of them. OK Dean is the eldest, but they come as a damned pair Billie!

I hate that Billie has used Jack to destroy God, Amara and himself in a suicide bomb attempt. What happens if it doesn't succeed and Jack is badly injured then what happens to the plan. What if the bomb doesn't go off, have they got a damned plan B!!!!! John always taught them to have a plan B! I'm worried and feeling really tense right now..... Death said HE would reap God one day, not use a young boy to do his damned bidding! haven't the writers even thought about that one! Looks like they haven't!

Again going out on a limb giving this 7 out of 10.

The one thing you can depend on in Supernatural over the past 10 years is that the writers that have been using aren't that familiar with the show they are writing for. There have been numerous times that they have forgotten little bits and pieces in the past or willfully ignored what was written in the past.
