Are These Twenty Things Wrong with Sam and Dean?

There’s an article over on Screen-Rant provocatively titled “20 Things Wrong with Sam and Dean Everyone Chooses to Ignore” which has a lot of people talking today. I rarely weigh in on other people’s articles because everyone has a right to their own opinion when it comes to this fictional show and these fictional characters – your interpretation, my interpretation, YMMV. And considering its provocative title, the controversy is probably exactly what the author was going for. A number of people have weighed in in the comments and made some very good points, so I also don’t want to belabour those points, but I will admit that when I got to the No. 1 thing I started shaking my head so fast I nearly gave myself whiplash. Then a few people asked me to weigh in with my psychologist hat on, so I thought, why not. However, my fangirl hat is definitely on as well, so I look sort of funny right now balancing two hats at once.

Anyway, let’s touch on these one at a time. I don’t disagree with everything in the article, but I do have a different viewpoint on some of the assertions.

I have always loved Lynn's take on the boys, and thought this article was well laid out and primarily thought about. Not disrespecting either character and trying to be equal to each character.

Would love to know your thoughts on these 20 wrong this with our boys? Fundamentally do you agree or disagree?

Sorry, I mostly just looked at the "titles"

Well, I don't think there is anything wrong with the boys coming back alive, I mean the Charmed Ones died a lot too. It's going to happen...As long as the show continues and contracts get renewed, no problems. Their deaths adds something though I'll admit.

Dean's problem with women... I don't know if it's just me, but Dean seemed to hook up with random "women" throughout the series. But the last few seasons, it's been mellow. They seem to "dumber down" Dean with women too.

Poor Sam, he always gets killed, kidnapped, and/or knocked out. I'm sure they aren't doing this on purpose, but Dean has saved Sam MANY times. I always liked that since the beginning Dean has been saving his Sammy.

I'm more shocked about the "abusive" before father?? But I think it's more about wanting approval and making father proud. Personally, my father is a complete screw up and yet, I still want to make him proud.

I don't really care about Sam's hair

Sam might be credited first, but at times I feel like it's the "Dean Show"

Dean does like to kill - monsters/bad people/who hurts his Sam, but then they give him that sense of humor

Sam has tragic love interests, for the same reason Reid from Criminal Minds doesn't have one all the time. Not what the shows about.

Who's Adam?? J/K, but I think they want us to forget or is that the running joke?

Maybe they are so healthy/good looking because God allows it??

Many of these are a bit knit picking, which is easy to do. Makes me what to rewatch the series from beginning and make my own list(s)
