Which version of Ruby was your favorite?

I have to go with Kate Cassidy as I felt she brought intensity and passion to the role. She really made me believe she was sincere and was a good person inside besides being a demon.

+2 ^^^

Ruby.1 was superb in creating that demon sass and spunk. She knew how to be a demon, and how to act like one. She had such feeling at times you could pass her off as human, but we know she wasn't. Kate really grew on me, and was a shame she didn't want to carry on the role? Gen Ruby2 was okay, but she didn't have that same presence as Ruby1. It left a hole even years later I think what a mess that hand over into another actress was. They did a better job with Meg 1+2 but not so great with the Rubies.

I agree about meg. It always felt like the same meg. Another demon who I enjoyed. I found her story to be so tragic with her sister commuting suicide and all after her possession.

I agree!

I am with the unpopular opinion that I prefer Ruby 2 - I think maybe it was to do with the obvious connection between them i.e. Jared and Genevieve - I could see how Sam would have slowly believed her much more than I could see him going as far as he did with Ruby 2 with Ruby 1.

Ruby 2 did seem more mature I believe. Someone who San could be with. I only wish she had more intensity.

reply

That is true too, that would Sam have gone with Ruby1. Since he married Ruby2 in RL? We know he had strong attraction back then for Gen, would the chemistry have been as strong?

reply

That's what's missing. The chemistry. Yeah if they bonded more and had screen time it would be way better.

I'm with you, Icarus. I liked Ruby 2 better. Dean described demons as being "evil for evil's sake." Meg 1 kind of embodied that- like a snake, her kind words were clearly just meant to get her close enough to slit your throat. Ruby 1, on the other hand, seemed more like a caricature to me. She didn't seem particularly menacing, imo. It was more like "you know she's evil because she stands with he arms crossed and her head tilted to the side. I thought both Megs, Ruby 2, Abbadon, and even possessed Jody Mills had a really evil vibe; Ruby 1 didn't. Bad girl maybe- but never evil demon.

The maid!!!
Best actress in a bunch. Stole the show with one line and sent all the others packing.

But I know you're not talking about her so, Ruby 1.0.
Katie did a good job playing a demon imo. She wasn't pleasant, she wasn't fake. She knew who she was and you had to take it or leave it. She was petulant, constantly irritated, abrasive, and she had sulfur swirling around her like a toxic cloud at all times. I didn't LIKE the character but I understood what the actress was doing and she made perfect sense to me. Ruby 1.0 wasn't supposed to be a peach and she never pretended to be. Katie portrayed her well.

I know it's not PC to criticize Ruby 2.0 but I believe in free speech and I don't rewrite history. I was in fandom in season 4 and there was a clear consensus about this character. She remains one of the absolute worst things this show has put me through and I wanted her gone the moment she opened the door and struggled to articulate unconvincing lines about pizza. We didn't even know who she was at the time, and then she introduced herself as Krissy. I already had a major beef with Krissy and if there's a TV equivalent to the hives, well that's what I get when Ruby 2.0 is on screen. She's one of the reasons season 4 is one of my less rewatched season.

The second one. The first one actually needed more bullwhipping.
