Supernatural Books

Are there any good "guides" to the show? I see all these "essay" books, but I don't know if they will necessarily be a good read. I saw Companions, but it only goes up to Season 7. Also, are any of the novels any good?

Thanks.

The Supernatural Book of Monsters, Spirits, Demons and Ghouls is quite good, as are the companion guides to the rpg game. The latter are out of print, though, so they're likely to be pricey if you can get them.

I haven't read The Mythology of Supernatural, yet. According to the reviews, it has some problems, but you may find it entertaining, anyway.

Opinion is going to vary a bit on the novels. My personal favorite was The Unholy Cause. I really wish that had ended up an episode. I also enjoyed Tim Waggoner's entries, which were quirky and creepy in a Waggoner way but still true to the show and its characters.

I just picked up Unholy Cause yesterday, since from reviews it's the "best" one.
Thanks.

Nope companion guides season 1-7 and then they just stop. There are novels and Amazon or café press ae good for non novel/companion books like John Winchester's journal, Bobby Singer's guide to hunting, etc.
