'Pepper Dennis' (Complete Series) DVD

Just curious if anyone has been recording every episode of the series so far?

It's sad that the show seems to be unlikely to return (low ratings, high production costs), but I love it.

It'd be really great if someone could put out a handmade DVD version of the series, since the WB probably won't release a set (just for one season).

You underestimate the power of the DVD. Even though the series isn't doing too well, they will continue to run episodes through July. The series has in effect become an advertisement for the "complete series" DVD which will no doubt come out later.

I agree. Many other critically acclaimed shows that did not
last an entire season came out on DVD. Two examples are
The Tick and Firefly.

reply

And Point Pleasant, and Arrested Development Season Two, and Tru Calling, etc.

I just hope it doesn't take 2-3 years for it to come out.

reply

By the way, I am recording every episode. I watch House live and tape Pepper Dennis. House has been on longer, so I watch it first.

I also record every ep to DVD-R from the WGN-HD

reply

So if they don't bring out a DVD, can we get copy's from you. Just pay for the DVD's or something like that?

reply

Yeah, I was hoping to do that too. I'd be willing to pay money for a hand-made DVD set.

reply

I don't mind shareing if no offical DVD's come out.

I have--not kidding--this really cheesy period swashbuckling thing from (I think) the 80s with Hugh Grant before he was famous that they released in places like Walmart for a dollar. So help me if like that makes a dvd release, Pepper ought to. Especially since my vcr is non-functional and I couldn't tape the finale.

I had a feeling we were doomed though when they changed to Les with his rather obvious innuendo-ridden name. Funny thing is, in a way he was kinda fun to have around. I gotta say though, after tonight I've decided it's a crime against nature not to have Brooke Burns doing comedy on television. One of the sadder things about "Pepper" going.

hey i know this is off topic but i was just wondering if you knew the name of that cheesy 80s movie.. because i remember one from the 80s and i was wondering if it was the same one.. though the one i remember didnt have hugh grant... im gonna miss Pepper too.. i really hope they release it on dvd. I'd buy it.

It's The Lady and the Highwayman, a 1989 tv movie. It cost $1.00 and, I'm guessing, was probably only worth shipping b/c it was in bulk with other $1.00 titles. I have this hilarious dream of getting Hugh Grant to autograph it one day. I'd seriously just die if he did.

I figure the image of him in the garb and wig was worth the dollar but just a question, how much do you think they'd charge for the half-season of Pepper Dennis, everybody? Can somebody just flat out email WB? Ask E!Online's Kristin Veitch or Matt Rousch from TV Guide? They might get it out of TPTB if there's any hope or even Rebecca, Josh, Brooke, Rider, etc.

I would like a copy when Henry Simmons was in it. Is this possible?

Thanks

Has anyone bought a copy of the series from TheTVWhore? Just curious. Even if it's not the best quality, it'd be nice just to have the series on DVDs.

What's TheTVWhore?

I just watched the first 2 episodes. There were 2 bad spots, but otherwise they were clear as a bell. I am new to dvd's so please excuse that if there are any flaws in my description.I believe they are recorded on wide screen because they don't fill my whole screen, its black on the top and bottom. There are not any closing credits. The episodes start one right after another. I am enjoying them again. The show never should have been cancelled. I am a rerun junkie not watching too many new or current shows ( in fact I got digital cable just to get the American Life Network and it shut off 42 minutes after I hooked up the box, my cable company had dropped the channel), but Pepper Dennis got my attention and I never missed an episode. The merger people of the 2 networks cancelled the wrong show.

reply

There have been plenty of shows that got cancelled but the complete series would still be released on DVD. The remake of the old Darren McGavin show "The Night Stalker" with Stuart Townsend barely lasted a couple of months in 2005 (maybe 7 episodes) but it was still released on DVD. "Pepper Dennis" I am sure will eventually be put on disc.

I just wanted to add my voice as a fan who misses this show and would really love to buy it on DVD or iTunes. It wasn't perfect, but it had great cast chemistry that had me hooked.
