Take a look at where OOP ranked for the season. Do you notice that its higher than the shows that replaced it and the show they decided to renew (The King of Queens). When you write to Moonves point out this glaring fact to him. It wasn't about bad ratings and advertisers. This was about the stupidity of one person. It was a successful show and they blew it.

reply

There are other factors than ratings. Out of Practice was a moderately expensive show for a sitcom. It was also in an important time slot that needs to do better than, say, a Sunday at 9:30 pm slot. Advertisers also have a say, and if they aren't excited about advertising on a show it will disappear very fast. And, of course, the cast was very talented so the actors may not have been excited to stay on for a sitcom that consistently hit in the lower half of the ratings.

Taking the whole picture into account, Out of Practice wasn;t a very good business venture, even though it was a pretty entertaining show.

reply

I don't really think you know what you're talking about. What makes you think it was an expensive show? What makes you think its time slot is any more important than the one King of Queens is in?

Basic fact is, since it scored such a high rating, they should have kept it. I like King of Queens, but Out of Practice was much better, and probably the best sitcom in the last decade.

reply

It's more expensive for CBS to keep a show like "King of Queens" on the air due to the two major players's salaries. Each will be making close to $500,000 per episode. I think CBS made a bad decision that they're probably going to regret. And writing letters to the networks does make a difference.
