Ty Burrell/Stockard Channing.......

I have trouble with these two actors playing mother/son. I know in real life SC is 23 years older than TB is, but he looks older for his actual age and she's looks to be 5 to 10 years younger. I had to check their bio's and yes I see that they are playing these roles accurately, but again, I keep thinking, did she have him when she was in her teens (on the show!) and how did she get thru medical school with a baby?

Sorry, but each week as I see these two actors in scenes together, I just can't get past it.

I have a lot of problems with the entire plot. Sure there are funny moments but would a real life family spend this much time with eachother? Especially if the parents are divorced? Come on, by now they'd all be flung across this country, different coasts, etc.

All in all, this is not on my list of favorite new shows. It could grow on me, but I highly doubt it.

The only cast member I truly find interesting to watch is Christopher Gorham/Ben. His portrayal of youngest, often ignored son/brother is quite good.

Stockard Channing does look her age in the few close ups we are allowed to see. My issue with her is her acting. Despite a decent resume she does too much "mugging" for the camera in this show. As a child of the late 60's Henry Winkler always will have a soft spot in my heart but I feel the best part of this show is Jennifer Tilly who we hardly get to see. Without the excellent Two and a Half Men lead-in and CSI: Miami follow-up, I cannot imagine this show succeeding without making some critical changes.

I was really surprised that Winkler and Channing did not do a lot of 'mugging for the camera.' I expected it, I was waiting for it, but really, I did not see any.
