Who Should Have Played Carl Kolchak?

One of the reasons why I didn't like this show is because of Stuart Townsend. I just don't see him as a good actor. Rather than a young guy to try and appeal to the ladies, I think they should have went with an older, weathered male like the original series did. In this case, I would have gone with Lance Henriksen. The only problem with this idea is, I don't know if people would have made comparisons to his portrayal of Frank Black on Millennium.

Lots of people think Lance Henriksen would make a good Kolchak. I don't see it though. Lance Henriksen generally comes off as somber and brooding in most of his roles. Darren McGavin had SO much range in his mood and voice inflections, also his facial expressions, that if you're trying to capture that I honestly don't know who you'd get.

Since my dream would be to mostly recreate McGavin's Kolchak, my choice of actor would be Fredric Lehne, the actor that played the younger version of McGavin's character on The X-Files. He "feels" enough right that if he studied McGavin more, he could probably pull off a very good likeness.

As far as current actors I'd pick to portray a modern Vincenzo, I'd go with Chi McBride.

Lance Henriksen would of been a terrific Kolchak. I also could of seen Corbin Bernsen in the role. Stuart Townsend was okay, but it just wasn't the Carl Kolchak that we loved. On the other hand, I would love to see Johnny Depp's take on the role and I am sure that it would be fantastic.

Henry Winkler.

William Macy my first choice.

Paul Giamatti my second.

An object at rest, cannot be stopped!

William Macy would be great, he has same acting style as Darren. Wish they would try it again and stick to the original source material.

My choice would've been Bruce Campbell, plus they should've set it in the original time period
