He indeed is half French I believe, I just have never heard him with an accent. Everything I've seen him in he is very American.

This episode has got to be my favorite.

My name says it all. Sean Hayes is my number one actor.

He is exaggerating for laughs...Michael was born in France, but his mother is American...He says he learned both English & French growing up...He left France when he was 18 (to avoid the compulsory draft) & has lived in the U.S. since 1986...He made several French & Italian films (see "Fiorile") and was spotted by Drew Barrymore, who demanded that he be cast in "Never Been Kissed"...

If you listen to him on a headphone (in "ALIAS," for example), he has a tiny trace of an accent...He had trouble with certain letter combinations, such as the "dn" in the name "Sydney" - he said "Sit-ney" in early Season 1, which I think is why they started using the nickname, "Syd," as the show continued...He also sounds his consonants harder than we do, especially his "T" sounds at the end of words...This is because French people don't sound their "T," they sort of round it off, the way we drop our "G"...Also, the French don't raise their tongue like we do, which is why they sound a bit like they're lisping...

He had trouble with the word "adhesive"; in the Season 3 blooper reel he gets picked on for it...And in Season 1, he slips & pronounces the word "liason" the French way - "lee-ah-zone - instead of "lee-ay-zonn," as is done in America...

Normally he doesn't use an accent; but sometimes he uses French mannerisms, and his eyes have the Gallic twinkle...
