Bad or good ending?

THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS

For me it was an amazing ending. The fact that the mother died put a lot of emotion in it. You can see Ted's watery eyes (S9-E19 Vesuvius) when he's talking to Tracy in the Farhampton Hotel even before the "What mother is gonna miss her daughter's wedding?" part. Ted was almost saying goodbye to her knowing that she would die eventually. That for me was one of the most emotional moments of the show.

People forget something important, Ted is telling his kids the story about HOW HE MET THEIR MOTHER, not HOW HE CAME BACK TO ROBIN 6 YEARS AFTER THE MOTHER'S DEATH. That is why all season 9 is about just one weekend, the most important weekend in the story, because those were the days he finally met her.

And the fact that in the last 2 minutes of the last episode the kids convinced Ted to go after Robin, for me is a great ending because we all know that what Robin and Ted had was special. It's like, well, his wife died 6 years ago, he have to move on, and what better way than with the girl that was the love of his life so many years until he met his wife. Remember what Tracy told to Ted: "I don't want you to be the guy who lives in his stories. Life only moves forward".

Tbh the ending is not actually what I disliked. It's more everything leading up to the ending.

IMO there has been too many episodes showing us how wrong Ted and Robin was together. We had that whole thing with Ted finally letting go of Robin.
I hated how the last season was about the wedding, just to have Robin and Barney split up ten minutes into the finale.
We've had seasons leading up to Robin and Barney, showing them getting together over and over again. We saw Barneys transformation from womanizer, to actually wanting to settle down.
That transformation has been on the way for a long time, just to have Barney ending up as a womanizer again.
I feel like everyone in the end, went back to the proppe they were ten years earlier. Every character development was just gone.

And I do disagree with it all being about meeting Tracy - even the kids in the end were like "this is not about mom, this is about you wanting permission to date Robin." Gotta agree with the kids

First of all I want to say that I respect your opinion, just don't agree with you in some points:

I hated how the last season was about the wedding, just to have Robin and Barney split up ten minutes into the finale.

I did not hate that fact, because as I said in my previous post, It was the grand finale. Finally we are there, we are on the weekend where Ted and Tracy met. That's why all the last season is about the wedding. And remember that Barney and Robin didn't split "in three minutes", they were married three years before they divorced. Of course we don't see those three years because the show ended, we would have needed another season at leats to develop their marriage and their divorce.

I feel like everyone in the end, went back to the proppe they were ten years earlier. Every character development was just gone.

Lily and Marshall didn't change. Robin and Barney divorced after three years. Those things happen to people, it's "normal" so to speak. Barney settled down when his baby was born. Do you remember the scene on the last episode where he seemed to go after two girls in the bar but instead he adviced them to go home?: "You young ladies need to go home, put on some decent clothes and take a good hard look at your lives."

And I do disagree with it all being about meeting Tracy - even the kids in the end were like "this is not about mom, this is about you wanting permission to date Robin." Gotta agree with the kids

Ted really was telling them the story about how he met their mother. Of course he always had feelings for Robin, but he also told them stories about other girls that were a big part of his life (Victoria, Stella). But of course the main girl in Ted's life before he met Tracy was Robin, and that's why Tracy only appears a little bit because he met her the last day of the show. He had nothing to tell about her because he hadn't met her yet.

And as I said in my previous post, people have to move on. Six years had passed since the death of Tracy. And of course Ted went after Robin in the end, they remained good friends, and they always had feellings for each other.

Sorry if I misspelled something, english is not my main language. Cheers.
