the yellow umbrella

This was supposed to be the story of the yellow umbrella, not the blue horn.

It was. The Blue French Horn story resumes after Ted finishes the Yellow Umbrella story.

Let's not forget the last piece in Ted's primary color storyline trifecta - the red cowboy boots;....
"Pulling... Them... Off!" (though not literally)

God did not create man in his own image; man created god in his own image.

To be fair, it all started with the French Horn though.

The story of "How I met your mother" is told when in the last episode we see future Ted. It´s only after that that his kids realise "You started the story with Robin for a reason.. got get her". Even though a lot of people claim it doesn´t make sense, I actually enjoy the storytelling coming full circle here.

If by full circle, you mean regressing all character development so story could recycle back 9 years, wait that's a good thing?

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

it´s life.

Just cause he ends up liking Robin again in the end doesn´t mean we are back to episode 1 character-wise.
Ted now HAD marriage and kids. Robin also came a long way accepting serious relationships and even marriage - even if hers with Barney did not work out. They are at completely different points of their life.
