A sad farewell

I just wanted to say thanks for the memories. I don't really post on here anymore, but this show when it was on the air had me in many a lively debate in here. I'll be sad to see the messages go, so I decided I had to jump in one more time.

I loved the show, but the continuity errors piled up so high that the love soured. Even though I have the DVDs, I honesty can't tell you the last time I even considered watching an episode.

If you're still around, which continuity errors are you talking about?

I don't think I have the list that I used to have before, and they purged this board so I doubt I can recreate it.

Off the top of my head:

Marshall never being in a fight to be a deadly fighter

Ted saying he didn't say I love you again until he met the mother and then says it the next episode to Robin.

Saying he's over Robin, but even after balloon robin he still hesitates

Saying they never found out where the pineapple came from and then showing us.

Showing Ted with a ring married in 2015 in Trilogy Time and then dragging out when they got married in the final season.

Robin Sparkles originally being a one hit wonder to eventually being so famous that she'd play the canadian superbowl and everyone remembers where they were and what donut they were eating when she gothed out.

Robin claiming she never played team sports, having only played tennis, then flashbacks to her hockey team where she kissed her teammate.

That's just a taste.

Thank you for the list, after all I can't deny that there weren't mistakes, because what show doesn't make them?

Regarding Marshal never fighting, and Robin never playing team sports: I agree with these, they are indeed continuity errors. In fact, Robin's backstory was pretty undecided in at least the first season, like they didn't know who she was just yet, and then changed their mind about some of the things they'd already said - in season at least, they weren't even sure about how her surname, Sherbatsky, should be pronounced (they kept changing their mind about the "bat" part).

I don't remember Ted saying he never said "I love You", and I'll check on the Trilogy Time one, however I have answers for the other ones.

That's not a continuity error, that is just someone being unsure if he really is over someone or not. That kind of thing happens, as it was stated in "Purple Giraffe" it is stated that there is no "off switch" when it comes to how you feel about someone, and even after a heartfelt scene of letting her go, he still isn't completely over her, he just knew he had to let her go.

They showed us in a deleted scene, so it doesn't really count. Said deleted scene was probably Carter Bays and Craig Thomas's last attempt to find a way to explain The Pineapple Incident (they hated how they had said that Ted never found out), but then realizing the couldn't do so without contradicting themselves.

You can still be a One Hit Wonder, and be famous enough to play at something like a sports event, providing that your one hit was famous enough. I keep meaning to do a full explanation about the Robin Sparkles thing.

Then Barney would have found all that in his search for Robin Porn. Except he only finds that one clip from some obscure guy in Hong Kong (or wherever). Then after each reiteration of Robin Sparkles he finds something new. It was funny the first time then it got stupid

If you are talking about in the hospital? You could argue that he said that as a joke
