Does anyone have a problem liking some of the characters?

I love HIMYM, but I've had a problem liking some of the main characters sometimes! But mainly, Ted. I always rooted for him and loved when he finally met the mother, but some of the things he did was just terrible! He was going to side with Zoe even though he knew Barney would lose his job, and Barney got him that job! He made Robin get rid of her dogs and compared them to possessions, I mean I really hated that episode, forcing someone to get rid of their pets because of jealousy is way too far!
Obviously there were other things too but I just felt like he did a lot of terrible things that I couldn't get by. Some of the other characters really naffed me off at times but I found it hard to like Ted most of the time.

I didn't, but some people did yeah.

In defence of Ted, it is worth remembering that he is telling this story to his kids, so he's basically admitting he isn't perfect. That said, I didn't like how Ted was in "Stuff" (where he makes Robin give the dogs away), but I didn't think Robin came out looking that good either. It was a pretty week episode, that got no real resolution, in my opinion - mostly because the whole reason they did it was to write out the dogs because of Josh Radnor's allergy.

That was what I was thinking (although I didn't know about the real reason they wrote out the dogs). Robin was the one who was jealous of Ted's stuff in the first place, which is something very stupid.

As to the OP's question, yes, we all have problems liking the five main characters from time to time. But Ted would only come in my fourth spot, to be honest. I've hated Lily, Robin and Barney far more than Ted. And Ted more than Marshall, although even Marshall has been despicable every once in while.

Actually, the fact the majority of times Marshall acted like a dick were on season 9 make it even worse. I mean, how is it possible that a person goes from nice and mature to acting like a real jerk?
