Why did Robin distance herself from the group?

I want to believe she led a great life, without a husband and loved her job, so no regrets. But the last episode made me feel like she was lonely and sad and I don't know if that was the writers intention. Did she not want to be around Barney or the happy couples? I feel like, if Ted didn't bring her the blue horn, she would just live her life without him and the rest of the group.

Well, that's what happens when you shoehorn a decision you made in Season 2 into the end of Season 9. I was all kind of disappointed at the ending, even though I always loved Robin and Ted together.

I do think it makes sense in a way for Robin to distance herself. Barney continuing to bed down 20 year olds just like he did before they were married, and Ted being incredibly happy with YM, it made it too awkward to be around. I've seen many people in groups of friends go the same way when they break up with an S.O. that's also part of the group. It's unfortunate but not so rare.

I'm telling you, it the Lando!
