ABC, CBS, Fox cancel struggling rookies
Monday November 28 11:24 PM ET

It's the end of the road for three freshman series: ABC's "Hot Properties," CBS' "Threshold" and Fox's "Reunion."

Sources said ABC has opted not to pick up additional episodes of the Gail O'Grady comedy "Hot Properties," which has completed its original 13-episode order and will stay on the air through December. The Friday entry revolves around four men-obsessed women in a Manhattan real estate office.

After a sluggish start in its original Friday 9 p.m. slot and equally soft results from the trial move of "Threshold" to the Tuesday 10 p.m. slot last week, the alien-invasion drama will be taken off the schedule for the last Tuesday of the November sweep this week, replaced by a repeat of CBS' promising new crime drama "Criminal Minds." "Threshold," from "Harry Potter" producer David Heyman, starred Carla Gugino.

The drama "Reunion," about six friends caught up in a murder mystery, has struggled in the killer Thursday 9 p.m. slot (opposite CBS' "CSI"), dropping significantly from its "The O.C." lead-in.

ABC, CBS and Fox declined comment on the cancellations Monday.

reply

Well at least it's on tonight

reply

SUCH a good show! One of the only ones I watch every week- very dissapointed by ABC pulling something fresh and funny with such a great cast! Anyone know the reason? It's one of the best things on right now!

reply

Wow that's so stupid. Remember the days when shows like this ran forever? Wings comes to mind.

I can't believe how quickly they cancel shows nowadays.

reply

Why are they cancelling all the good shows? First Complete Savages then My Wife And Kids and now Hot Properties.

reply

Oh Gosh, they always cancel the good shows, and keep stupid crap on. All they need to do is move this show from friday, and the problem would be solved. So many people would watch it if it wasn't for the time slot. This is such a good and funny show. I'm sad now.

reply

They did air a show on a Tuesday and I am not sure of how the ratings were. I guess the ratings were not high enough to move it to Tuesday. I agree it is one of the best shows this season. I been watching it since it first airred.

I dunno if it will make it to dvd or not. Most cancelled shows don't make it to dvd.

anyone sticking up for 'my wife and kids' needs a punch in the crotch. that show has set black people back a solid twenty years, and tisha campbell might be the single most useless woman on the face of the earth

that kinda sucks, but honestly Gail O'Grady was the only reason to watch...

reply

This sucks big time. Everytime I get into a show these days, it seems to be cancelled. They did it to Tru Calling, Miss Match and Wanda at Large.

reply

Why do they keep the bad ones and dump the promising ones? I've been wondering that for years! What always comes to mind is "Will & Grace" I don't know anyone (Male or Female) who watches that show. These are the things that make you go Hmmmm?

reply

I think Love Inc on UPN is along the same lines as Hot Properties and its still going strong. Why can't the major networks take a note from the smaller ones and give these shows a chance? Old shows like Who's the Boss, Three's Company and coutless others were not smash hits right away, but they were given a chance and look how big they became. I hardly ever see any advertising for Hot Properties, but the mediocre ones are always on. Like Joey.

reply

I think that this is the funniest show of the year!!!! Now where will I get my dosage of Nicole Sullivan!

And also Joey is cancelled, so the advertising didnt work.

reply

With any luck, Nicole Sullivan will return to "The King of Queens."

It would be so easy to write her character back into the show.

reply

You know, once in a while, if people really fight for it, they actually can change their minds and revive a good show like this. So just make noise and buzz people. Don't let it go without a fight!

reply

Thank goodness, I don't like this show at all.

reply

ARGH!

reply

The show was horrible but the eye candy was incredible! Gail & Sofia will be sorely missed!

reply

This is one of the top sitcoms on TV what with the weak current lineup out there. It is bullcrap for ABC to yank this one. That new show they had to replace it was pitiful.

reply

ABC Needs to get a life!!!

First they got rid of Life With Bonnie...one of my favorites...replaced it with Less than Perfect...which i kinda liked then that was kicked off the slot and moved somewhere else...now Hot Properties...another one of my favorites...

reply

What a bummer...I saw a few episodes back in Dec (including the Oprah one) and thought it was funny. And now I find out it's cancelled. GRR!

Another Friday night devoid of good television thanks to the imprudent decisions of the brass at ABC. I guess I will be on the computer tonight.

reply

I'm glad it's being cancelled! The show relied solely on zinngers and cheesy writing. I saw the taping of the first episode, and I walked out knowing that there's know way a show like that would last!

reply

[deleted]

There were other factors that more than compensated for the zingers and cheesy writing, ergo, the cast of foxes delivering said zingers.

It is a shame, and CBS should be ashamed.
