Question:

I live in New York and until recently with the growth of the mexican population we had no gangs. My question is, Are there still gangs in other states?

I ask the above question because I read a racist mentioning gangs and gang violence and was wondering, "what the hell is he talking about?" Gangs?
Have I been living with my head down and missed the truth? To me if it is not happening here in NY than it is not happening elsewhere. Maybe I have been living myopically.

Oh, gangs are still around. I'm sure you've heard of MS-13? They're down here in DC and Maryland, and they are supposedly national. They aren't Mexican, though -- I think they originate in El Salvador or something.

Yeah they are here in California as well...

Gangs are around. Some still dress gansgter style but others dress I guess with style...but you can still tell

Thanks. I have not recently heard of any gangs, other than the crypts and the bloods. However, they have been around for years, but are they here in New York?
