BLACK SHOWS ARE BEING DROPPED!

FIRST GIRLFRIENDS, THE GAME AND NOW EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?!!! At least Everybody Hates Chris was actually FUNNY and worth the watch, and yet MEET THE PAYNES is still running? *beep* I smell a monopoly, but whatever.

"Everybody Hates Chris" is actually pretty good. Now "The Game", and "House of Paynes" suck. I can see why "The Game" was canceled poor rating, and not even funny. "HOP" should of been gone, only reason it probably still on is because Tyler Perry probably has some stock in TBS. Everyone knows that show wouldn't last past 1 season on a regular networks.

Yeah, I don't like "The Game". So what. It's my opinion.

reply

I AGREE! STILL PISSES ME OFF.

reply

Chris dropped it since it showed his life before he became a success

WHAT?????????

reply

That is a good question and it does seem like alot of black shows are being dropped. In the 90's black shows didn't get cancelled out as much maybe then they were worth watching. I will admit that I don't to much care for House of Payne (I like Tyler Perry movies, but TV show wise....its not that great). House of Payne is kind of funny to me it has it days when I watch, Meet The Browns is funny I like Mr. Brown. I don't to much care for Girlfriends, even though it remind me of Living Single, The Game....its an ok show after awhile I got bored with it.

Ok, some of these shows weren't cancelled by the network. They just ended their run and the people involved wanted to move on to other projects. And if a show doesn't have good ratings, they should pull the plug weather it's a "white" show or a "black" show. It's called good business.

reply

So are "white ones".

It's got nothing to do with colour and everything to do with money.

If a show featuring a completely black cast turned out ratings like friends (a predominanlty white cast) then it would last for ten years too. Execs care about money and ratings, not colour. They are equal opportunity idiots.

reply

Girlfriends needed to go. Someone up top compared it to Living Single. I don't think the writing was nearly as clever, and the cast was not great. Living Single had some great actors with wonderful comic timing. Girlfriends not so much.

I used to think like that. Im black myself but I dont think race is usually an issue because the fact is sometimes shows just end their run & alot of the time the shows suck imo; House of Payne & Wanda at Large I never found them funny and not many people I knew watched them plus I never liked The Game either but its more geared towards women plus its coming back to tv. Furthermore some of the most heavily syndicated shows are; The Cosby Show, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Family Matters etc and the reason I think is because they fall into that category that transends color lines & not too many shows can pull that off, basically what im saying is when you watch these you dont think of it as a "black show" but rather a "good show". Just as with Married with Children thats one of my favorites...

i think many people instantly think "black show" when they hear those shows mentioned. not even thinking of the cast being all black either. whether they think about race in a negative or positive way doesn't matter, love or hate the show based on non-race elements, it's a fact that those shows are full of references to black people/issues etc. they're not as obvious and heavy-handed as the cheesy moments you'd see in "A Different World" series a long time ago but they're still there

i dunno maybe it's not as common as I think, what do you guys think? i've never judged anyone negatively based on race before, but i still instantly think "black show" when I see these
