Anybody else think Ms. Morello is just insulting?

It was funny at first but then it started to become a bit too much. Now I just find it way more insulting than funny.

reply

yah, it's just getting really annoying.

reply

i agree it was funny at first now its just too much. not funny just annoying now.

reply

Mrs Morello became more of a racist later on.

reply

Mrs. Morello was always a racist. An episode I would love to see on this show is if Chris' mom Rochelle would come for a parent-teacher conference. I bet after listening to Mrs. Morello for ten seconds she would hit her upsided the head with a brick! She certainly has it comming!

reply

I love Ms. Morello, she's hilarious! I only find actual racism insulting. When it's being portrayed by an actor on a show it's just acting. She's funny and I love the things she says because I crack jokes like that all the time.

The mother and the teacher met once and the teacher said something racist and the mother was like WTF and was about to slap her or some *beep* and Chris said she did it all the time and calm down.

reply

Rochelle often said things that were racist as well. It was comedy...things were said to be funny. The show provided stereotypes...on both the white and black race that are not positive. Relax...Chris Rock was okay with it.

Mrs. Morello was always racist, it just that she tries so hard to hide it. It's not funny anymore, because there are a lot of people like that who are not even aware that they are racist. ( or at least they claim they are not racist)

i dont think she's full blown racist. she doesnt hate black people, but she does judge by sterotypes on people based on their skin color. plus she has a black guy fetish because of the sterotypes

My real life Ms. Morello was Ms. Russell and she substituted any form of humor for meanness. She once kicked me out of class for smiling at her and she would phonily talk with other teachers and or pretend to be having a smiley day if she saw me frowning. As an 8 year old I didn't realize until as an adult that she might have been a sicko who was literally getting off to such lechery.

reply

While her comments are insulting, I actually find her hilarious! She's such an ignorant idiot. I love her scenes. I think a lot of people have met someone like her in their lifetime.

Plus, the show is written by black people, I'm sure.

People lighten up and stop being so damn P.C it kills the humor of the show ...Comedy is always broad when its funny and this show is funny...people have forgotten how to laugh at themselves ..How sad for you

reply

"Plus, the show is written by black people, I'm sure."

Considering how much dumb, ignorant, STUPID *beep* white people say- this is rather mild....

i just love her racist jokes, genius!

reply

I think her stupid comments are how Chris interprets them (as a 13 or 14 year old and the only black kid in school). In reality, any teacher who actually said those things would be in serious trouble. She probably hinted at certain things, and Chris felt that she really meant something else, so that's what he remembers her character SAYING. She probably was racist and insulting, but really not so blatant about it.

reply

i agree, sheryl. Chris probably had a teacher like that while he was in school and he just exaggerated some of her ignorant comments for the sake of comedy.

Champagne for my real friends, real pain for my sham friends.

reply

yeah, sometimes people are really ignorant like that, even teachers. I went to predominately white schools most of my life and people would say some of the most ignorant things. One time I was in the principal's office because I was a new student at the school. He asked me my mother's name and I told him, then he asked my father's name, just when I started to answer him, he says you do know his name don't you? I was like only 9 so I was so I only said, why wouldn't I? The school also thought that I was slow because I was a black child coming from the inner city. My first day at the school, they automatically put me in a slow class! One day later I was placed in a gifted class!!! So yeah, some people are really ignorant, there just not that blatant like Ms. Morello.

reply

Mrs. Morello: I'm sure that with all your street smarts, you should have no problem with passing your algebra test

HILARIOUS

reply

Come on y'all this was the 80's and Chris is the only Black kid in school.

He is also the only Black kid she has ever taught...

Yes she is ignorant and can be offensive, but her heart is in the right place.

Not trying to justify some of the things she says but I think she should be given the benifit of the doubt

Plus some of her lines are hilarious.

reply

ah i think folks need to remember that this is only based on his life. it's NOT a documentary. It's a sitcom folks. whether or not it has black writers (i have no knowledge so maybe they are maybe they aren't), one assumes that chris has somehwhat of a final say in the comedic material.

reply

Poignant and funny. I posted your truth to my facebook.

reply

Poignant and funny. I posted your truth to my Facebook. HAHa. I just realized in reading your story for the 3rd time that a troll could ask Why didn't your parents stay with you until all paperwork was filled out so you were not left screening that Principal's inquisition? No biggy. Haters gonna hate.

reply

real pain. Love it.

reply

You're talking out of your ass. You have no idea how comfortable white folks were with publicly saying the most egregious racist crap just 20 or so years ago. I do.

reply

Hopper-xxx is correct in everything he said (except the insulting "you're talking out of your *ss" comment).

I'm white, and when it's just white people around, it is INFURIATING how some other white people just assume I am as racist as they are and say out loud the horrible bigotry they embrace.

And in the 1980's? Puh-LEEZE! Racism was making a big comeback under President Reagan.

reply

I'm black and I don't really think she is insulting. She is just very horny.

reply

Good point. The Psychology of the child's eye view.

reply

So. If you don't like it, then get a time machine, go back to the 15th century and nip white racism in the bud.

reply

she's insulting but b/c its a tv show and i understand the context i don't care...honestly she's hilarious b/c she says such *beep* up things but loves black men...actually have a friend like that which is hilarious....but w/e...anyways its just a show don't let her whiteness blind u buy the fact that chris rock is making fun of how white ppl then...n some now...do say the most racist things ever w/o even knowing it...

Hilarious comment, Hooper. Shame is, it wasnt meant to be hilarious.
As if farting out of your mouth is not as bad as talking out of your arse.
Also an error in reasoning: the fact that things are the way they are contradicts the possibility to go back and change anything.
I would nip any racism in the bud, by the way, if I could, but those damn Earthlings are too stupid to understand this point.

reply

She is insulting but I think that that is the point of her character, to show how racism is just crazy and insulting--people do feel that way but aren't as vocal I guess, racism usually tends to be subtle

reply

WHat about Coruso? (is that the right spelling?) He's not just a bully, he is a RACIST bully. I can think of several times where he's been so out of line. I remember when he was hall monitor and gave Chris a ticket for "walking while Black" and he gave Chris the movie, Birth of A Nation, which glorifies the Klan and called it "hilarious" Oh, my goodness, this kid has made my jaw drop a few times. I gotta say. But I know it's just a show, I'm surprised I haven't seen someone bring him up though.

In that case, the real life CR should make your jaw drop too, because his 'comedy' reveals that he shares many of the Klan's racist sentiments towards Blacks.

Here's some proof if you don't believe me, and warning, this link contains content of CR being extremely racist and using the "N" word a lot:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AzFTLKWvfE0

In fact, CR says he wants to join the KKK in that same link.

reply

Navaros...you obviously didn't listen to CR...he was talking about N-words, not blacks. There is a difference...unless you don't think so!

reply

actually the 1st season I found her more offensive. seems her character has been toned down a bit. the worse comment was(or was that the principal?) when she assumes chris is a crack baby.

No I attended junior high school in New Jersey from 1980 to 1982.Back in those days adults:parents, school teachers, nuns, church members, neighbors even the local post man could say basically anything they wanted to say and there wasn't much of a blow back neither.Adults didn't care about a child's feelings or self-esteem.I guess they were to busy raising us.Granted it is a comedy so they do play it up a bit with the insults but that's how adults related back in those days.
