Why is Mitch a gay guy

This doesn't make sense. Mitch gives up his career in Hollywood as a movie writer which is a super career he worked hard for just to help his mother and his father and his brother and the family restaurant out. The problem is his family doesn't know that he is a gay man. All this wouldn't have happened if Mitch's Dad didn't cheat on his wife, (Mitch's Mom) by having an affair with another woman. Why did he do that? Then why did Mitch's Mom try to run him over with the car so she would get stuck in the institution?

Plus why did Mitch have to give up his Hollywood Career go east work at that restaurant for nothing,(he gets no paychecks there), and be stuck there.

Most of all why is he gay? I mean if he hugged Andrea on his arrival and his Mom what made him gay? Most young men find pretty girls attractive so what made him a gay man? Please let me know and if Mitch is a former Hollywood guy he would be happier if he loved pretty females and wasn't gay. Please explain that to me.

Mitch had one movie based on the death of his brother but now he has writers block. Anyway, as someone mentioned it's just a sitcom and Mitch being gay is just a for plot development but if your mom tried to run over your dad, wouldn't you go home to help out?

My dad and I always got along... why would I want to help out mom who is trying to run over him?

What do you mean WHY is he gay? He just is! That is like me asking why all the other characters are straight. Ummm...yeah, I want to know why Mitch's brother is straight. Now, does that make any sense? His character is gay because it's part of the script and you know, some people in this world are gay. By Crumbs having a gay character it made it more representative of real life.

Because it's in the script. And there's nothing wrong with being gay.
