Admittedly I've never seen a whole episode but the parts I have seen, she is just annoying as hell how it's impossible for her to get ANY cultural references or figures of speech.
shareIn short, yes, many people find her annoying. If you watched the series, you would also grow tired of her arrogance and impenetrable perfectionism. But, she's cute...at least she was early on in the series.
shareBrennan is a shadow of her former self. She was never like this until HH left after season 9, and even worse after SN left after season 10. The new show runners haven't a clue about how to write her character.

Brennan's character really changed after the first season. Even her back story changed a bit. I finally stopped watching around season 8 because I found everyone was annoying.
shareBrennan did annoy me in the beginning, but after the first few seasons, she started to become a little more...human. That is, until the last few seasons.
By the time this show was nearing the end, it seemed like the character became this robot version of herself all over again. Clearly the writers had no idea what in the world to do with her, so they started from scratch.
But hey, I wasn't in it solely for Brennan. It's the ensemble that made Bones entertaining.
The irony perhaps is she understands cultural references when they are about cultures she didn't grow up in/aren't her own. So she proves she does have the ability to understand these things but only when it suits her SJW mind.
The problem with characters like hers is there isn't much room to evolve over seasons because then you lose the whole point of them. But they still need consistency, her analytical mind (allegedly) should be questioning foreign cultures as much as she questions and is bemused by her own.
She never evolves which makes her boring. There is also an inconsistency in where she does understand ancient and other cultures but for some reason can't grasp anything modern.
I always found Angela even more annoying.
