Unlikeable cast...

Ok so am starting from Season 1 and therefore hoping the characters change and grow. Bit aaggghhhhh so far Booth is deeply unpleasant to most, very condescending and in general a pretty arrogant jerk. Plus hos whole the F.B.I. is the best speech was pretty vomit inducing. Hodgkins seems like he sees himself as better than everyone with his whole I'm so rich don't care if u fire me attitude. I can say/do whatever. Finally Bones herself, yes I get she is a major braniac but she lacks common sense and has NO pop culture knowledge whatsoever, she's never even heard of Dr Seuss or The Grinch!!!!! Please lol. Loving the rest of the cast and hoping the others start becoming more likeable or else it will be bye bye to this show.

Wow.

Yes, Booth was an arrogant jerk in the early seasons, but he also had more than that going for him. He's a good dad, he's tortured about all the people he had to kill as a sniper and he wants to make up for that, and he has a strong sense of justice. Hodgins was arrogant and paranoid, but he also has good intentions underneath all of that. Brennan did lack pop culture knowledge (and still does sometimes) but she has a big heart.

If you can keep watching and see those things emerge in these characters, then I think you will fall in love with the show. If not, then you might just want to cut and run to a different show.

I recommend the following sites for some great explanations of episodes from seasons 1-10.

I actually grew to dislike Brennan more than I did back then. Booth and Angela are fine, but Hodgins became my favorite out of main cast, although my all time favorite is Sweets and Caroline. Brennan is just annoying. I always wondered why is she best selling author if she speaks the way she speaks, doesn't get and/or use modern colloquialisms, proverbs etc, and also doesn't follow modern events? I could buy her being a scientist, she doesn't need to know any of that, but a writer? Also, as an antropologist, she always studies other cultures, their behaviours and ways of speaking, but doesn't learn anything from her own culture? That is ridiculous

Bones is two separate shows "Before Brennan Became a Science Robot" and "After Brennan Becomes a Science Robot".

I whole heartedly agree with you in recent seasons. There is no way that Brennan, as she is right now, could ever be a famous anthropologist or a famous author. You are correct in that she cannot comprehend most human behavior or even feel emotions herself. Which would make her professions verrryyyyy difficult.

Now, if you were watching the original Bones show, before she became a science robot, I'd disagree with you. While somewhat socially awkward, Brennan was smart, sharp, empathetic, and had a quick wit. I could easily believe her as an anthropologist and author back then.

If you can differentiate the two shows in your mind, it's a lot easier to take. I try to flashback a LOT to help me remember why I fell in love with this show and the characters. Estella is right, Bones Theory is an EXCELLENT resource to remember those times, especially the Scene Studies.
