KERR'S APARTMENT- SOPHIE'S BEDROOM

The shot opens through the bedroom window and slowly eases in. We see Sophie Kerr perched on her bed with a Sony laptop on her. She searches for a book on Amazon when she hears a loud noise, Sophie looks up. Footsteps and whimpers are heard as Sophie opens her bedroom door and looks out.

KERR'S APARTMENT- HALLWAY

Sophie walks down the hallway into the kitchen.

KERR'S APARTMENT- KITCHEN

Karen sits on the floor, crying, while Sophie rushes over to her. The mascara on Karen's face melts together.

SOPHIE
Karen? Are...Are you okay?

Karen doesn't respond while Sophie pulls her into a hug.

SOPHIE
Karen, what happened?

Karen looks up at Sophie and whips the tears on her sweater.

KAREN
That...bastard! I can't...believe he did...this to me!

SOPHIE
Who? What?

Karen hesitates for a moment.

KAREN
Ben.

KERR'S APARTMENT- FRONT HALLWAY

The door opens as Lynn walks into the apartment with grocery bags in her hands.

She walks down the hallway while speaking.

LYNN
Sophie! Karen! I'm home, dinner will be at five.

LYNN
Tonight is...

Lynn walks into the kitchen and pauses.

KERR'S APARTMENT- KITCHEN

Lynn sees Sophie and Karen bunched up in the corner, on the floor.

LYNN
Tonight is spaghetti. Karen, honey, what happened?

She drops the groceries on the table and walks over to Karen.

KAREN
Ben, chose who won the modeling contest.

Sophie stands up as Karen begins to cry again and Lynn comforts her.

LYNN
Karen, I'm so sorry. Well he is a major jackass!

Lynn whispers to Sophie while Karen is in her arms.

LYNN
Let's just call in a pizza.

Sophie smiles.
