Terrible Parents

I'm watching this show right now and I just got to the episode titled Discipline. I have to say that is one of the worst episodes of any TV show I've ever seen before. I definitely think the show has it's moments and for the most part I like it, but that episode makes me want to just give up on it altogether. How do you just NOT know how to discipline your child. Now I understand not wanting to spank your kid, but how have you made it to the age of four without learning how to properly implement time outs? This episode really just blew my mind. The level of bad parenting was just at an all time high. It's going to be hard to like either parent character going forward.
