I think it's better than Louie

I enjoy Louie but it's often to heavy or awkward for me to truly enjoy it. I know this is done on purpose, but this is why I enjoy Lucky Louie more. It has more comedy and more screen time for other characters.
If a show or movie makes you feel how the characters do I think it has accomplished what they wanted to do. But it's not always enjoyable.

I just rewatched the entire season yesterday and I forgot how funny it was. I only watched one episode of Louie, but it just didn't feel the same so I never got into it.

reply

Ditto for me.

I must have just picked a bad Louie episode. I may go back and try it again.

I know what you're saying. But I like Louie more. Better acting, funnier, and i like the darker/weirder stuff. And the cameos on Louie are always great.

Way better. Such a shame they cancelled it...

reply

Me too. This one was funnier.

The saddest thing about "Louie" is that the funniest parts are the scenes where he is doing stand up. I might as well watch recordings of his stand up.

Luois C.K. and Pamela Adlon together were superb. Even Kelly Gould's character was way funnier than his two TV daughters in "Louie".

reply

That's my problem with it. That and the lack of any kind of story, plot, continuity or theme.

Louie simply isn't a funny show. The stand-up segments are, but the show itself is dull, depressing and just simply lacking in comedy. I really don't get how it gets so much love. Lucky Louie was vastly superior in every way and yet Louie is the darling of hipsters and critics (who I've come to realize are basically the same trolls).

I hope Louis CK still can do something new and fun with Pam Adlon like Lucky Louie. Maybe he can still continue this show with old guys?

Louie is wonderfully shot, deals with some great subject matters. But I think 'Lucky Louie' had the potential to be an unique once in a generation show. I love the cast. I think Louie CK frowns upon Lucky Louie today because it was a repetitive sitcom during that era. Hacky shows like Everybody Loves Raymond, My Wife and Kids, According to Jim probably got in the way of Lucky Louie. Maybe HBO brings it back like they did The Comeback, but Louie CK is too big of a star now and pretty much has his choice to do whatever.

reply

no, he doesn't. a while ago he spoke about lucky louie and he is still proud of this show. he knew that the opportunity was too good to be true and therefore he did exactly the show, that he wanted to do at that time, knowing that it would be cancelled after the first season, no matter what.

I owuldnt say better, but it's good. I watched the pilot years ago, and tohught it was the worst thing ever, and recently... my wife insisted that we watch it for some reason, so I saw the other episodes, and was so impressed! It's really funny, interesting and pleasant... I love Louie, less the last season...which was just terrible...but Lucky lou is great too.

There we were, minding our own business, when kids started killing themselves all over my property.

I think it's not easy to really compare the two. They are different types of shows. Lucky Louie I like as a funny sitcom, but Louie involves some more serious drama.

i know this post is from two years ago, so there has been more eps of Louie. But I love Lucky Louie. I think it's a lot funnier. Of course , the different format makes it apples and oranges .
