When does it Come out??

anyone know the actual date?

reply

Last I heard was next Fall, but it is so far out that could easily change. I dont think they will do a nationwide release like they did for American Zion because nobody knew it was in theaters. I would ask on their website, www.americanzion.com.

reply

The teaser says Spring 2006.

reply

I heard that it was coming out in July!

reply

It's very doubtful it's coming out at all, at this point. Maybe straight to video?

reply

Um...no...it will have its theatrical run. I'm sure it won't be as wide of a release...which I think was dumb anyways. Let the anticipation build as you release it wider.

Well, I seriously doubt it will go straight to video.

I've heard this from people directly involved with the film. But nothing's definite, and I do hope you're right.

reply

The movie is coming out in theaters, they've already advertised it with teasers and everything. Besides, even though this isn't a huge budget film, it's still big enough that it will go to select theaters. The only question is when? but nobody seems to have an answer for that one.

reply

From the offical site's comment page:

American Zion will be out on DVD before A House Divided is in theaters.
This statement was made at the end of January...so offical word is that this film will still see a theatrical release.

I wonder if it will make less than the 2 million the last film made? Hee Hee!

reply

The official site is entirely run by the film trilogy's PR firm. They're not going to say anything about it until it's official, and of course they won't tout the film as anything but a hit.

To reiterate (for the 497326th time or so): no, nothing's official yet, but my source only says a theatrical release for #3 is now "looking doubtful." That doesn't mean it can't or won't happen, just that it's looking more doubtful.

We can go another few rounds about this if you really want to, though. =)

He made the same mistake every low budget filmmaker makes. He made money off the first direct to video film so he starts shoveling money into the sequels thinking that the audience will expand exponentially. So it's all about greed in the end.

First of all, the first film was not direct to video. It was released in theaters under a local distributer with very little experience in nation-wide releases. It was a limited release and Mr. Miller knew he may not make a profit (but I'm sure he hoped he would). Secondly, he did not make the next two because he was "greedy". In fact he was warned that they might also just break even or lose money. The second and third movie were shot at the same time and location (Tenessee) to save money. It was a risk because he loved the books and the subject matter. But, he is also a businessman and there is a limit to the financial loss he would take. Lastly, the real problem is name recognition. There are hundreds of movies released each year and screened in multi-plex theaters. No amount of advertising can overcome the fact that there are no readily recognized names in the movie. No matter how good it is, if you're at the multi-plex with family, friends or a date and you're choosing which of dozens of films to see, you will be very unlikely to go to a film that has not either won a significant award or is starred by one of your favorite actors. That's the reality of film marketing. No "A" list actors, dificult to market.

By the way, the third film will more than likely be released in the next two months.

Any newer updates of when the film will be released? I'm dying to see it, and all I have to say is that it better be released!! I would love if all volumes were made into films. I agree--we all have to see it in the theaters (bann together) to make it happen. The story is too wonderful not to be told!

reply

Under release dates it says November 2006. Hopefully it comes out before then because I really enjoy these movies, but at least it's coming out.

reply

I've corresponded only recently with the movie's PR people, and they have no idea when, or even if, it's going to be released in the theater. November 2006 seems like an educated guess.

reply

As soon as you know, let us know. I, along with many, are here to support the films.

reply

Last Friday I spoke with Sterling VanWagenen (director) and Sam Hennings (Benjamin Steed). They both said with complete confidence that the movie will be released in theaters this November for Thanksgiving. We don't need to worry about a straight-to-video release.

reply

And...the Deseret Book summer catalog says "The dramatic story continues in "The Work and the Glory: A House Divided"--in theaters Thanksgiving 2006" (P. 5)!

reply

Excel Entertainment (which released the first movie in theaters) just announced in a press release that it will release A House Divided this November.

reply

I loved both movies and can't wait for the third. How many are they planning to make? One for each vol. or combine some.

reply

November 23, 2006 is the release date. If it's released thru Excel, I bet theyy will do the limited release plan like the first movie.

reply

I'm excited!! I've started reading the books, and they're amazing!! I hope that there's a theatre near where I live where it will come out. I can't wait that long to see it!! I really hope that this won't be the last one. There's more books.
