Letters in the church...stand for what?

When Joseph is talking to Ben in the church after it's been nearly destroyed - I noticed P.E.
M. written on both sides of the altars - in gold lettering. Does anyone have any idea what this stands for? Palmyra evangelical mormons? LOL
I have no idea...and it doesn't give any hints that I know of in the movie...so I thought perhaps someone more familiar with LDS Mormon theology might have a clue.

It is explained in book three. The letters stand for the various priesthood quorums in the church and the leaders of those quorums sat in those pews during meetings.
