Misleading Title

Based on the title ... I was expecting this movie to be about the very last train to Auschwitz ... which would take place about mid November 1944. It is an intriguing prospect ... who were the last poor soles dispatched to this Hell On Earth? Where did they come from? What misfortunes and events put them in this horrific position?

It's like the rhetorical question ... who is the last man to die in the war? It is amazing to think about what chain of events intervened and kept this man from being the first to not die in the war? There are even significant religious implications to this question.

But this is not what this film is about and it would be more appropriate to name it "A Train to Auschwitz."

The sad reality of this film is that there was nothing special about this train and this particular cattle car ... besides the individuals who filled the car. In actuality this was a scenario that occurred hundreds of thousands of times over and that is really sobering.

This is an important film that illustrates the horrors of the transport. It reminds us that so many never even made it to Auschwitz. More so it reminds us of how things can go very bad ... very quickly.
