Did the movie paint an accurate picture?

I've read some stories from Holocaust survivor that the train ride was hell itself, and many people had lost all sanity and it was every person for him/herself. Given extreme situation, I wouldn't fault them for doing so.

Having said that, I wonder if this movie did too much "white-washing" to portray a positive picture for those riding the train to hell.

That depends on the objectives of the production. Was the object of this film to illuminate the most horrible cattle car in the entire holocaust? I don't think so.

Does this film display what was typical? I am guessing so. Were there cars in which things were more desperate and horrid ... absolutely. Were there cars in which things were better ... certainly.

I saw a film once where a Hungarian woman was raped on train headed to Auschwitz (My Mother's Courage). I thought that was way over the top. Did it ever happen ... I would guess so. Did the movie "need" to portray it ... I do not think so!

Rape? I find that hard to believe. There was no space for that, plus people were too hungry and smelly

May I suggest that you check out the film and then comment. It was actually a decent film (7/10)
