Directors cut?

Just watched this and while it was okay seemed to borrow quite a lot of J-Horror elements.

I've read online there are two versions, a directors cut and an international cut with the director's cut being a lot superior and different.

Does anyone know if this is true and the differences. I am curious which version I have seen.
