Vanda still alive?

I just watched "Vanda's Room" on TCM. After watching the film I went here to see if I could find any information about the principals in the movie. I was astonished to see that Vanda, 6 years later, was still alive (and making films!). How could this woman be smoking smack and still be alive and employed six years later? But now it is 7 years since this film was made - are she and her sister still with us? As an aside, I found "Vanda's Room" tolerable because it was very much like cinema verite. A style that is usually long (3 hours) , but for me the time goes by quickly. You just get sucked into it somehow. When it is done well, it is engrossing. If not, it is just gross.
