Compared to Crash?

I just see the movie in DVD; on IMDB, someone comments that this movie can be compared to Crash... I think it's a little bit true for fatality but what else?
Personaly, I found L'Audition too slow, even the screenplay is original, it's like an audition of 2 hours long and between, a small story necessary for the previsible ending.

BUT I must say that all comedians in this movie are great, everyone in his role was sensitive with just a bit of absurdity and deserved an Oscar! Particularly Luc Picard and Alexis Martin always outstanding!

I would say that this film made me feel Quebec's answer to Amores Perros, of Alejandro González Iñárritu.

I've actually never seen Crash (I know..!! AHH), but the truth of all these wonderful movies is what makes me hope for a better tomorrow today.....

I don't want this movie to end up in a whole oscar comparison, it's too simple yet explosively complex for hollywood.

Peut-être pour l'ours d'or de Berlin... mais pas pour le p'tit bonhomme d'or des américains.

The density of the layers explored here are probably more interesting to a european audience. The minute, it seems, you put too much emphasis on human emotion, hollywood doesn't buy it... They did shun, for example, Eyes Wide Shut, which seemed to me at the time, to be an insult to Stanley Kubrick's magnificant, distinctively american art, and memory (he died not very long before the oscars).

I'd rather see it placed along the lines of Love is a Bitch... it also has, for those who've been to Quebec, and to those who know its powerful attitude, a very particular Quebec feel to it, although remarkably unpolitically motivated, that's very similar to how Love has that rich and complex mexican feel.

Un heureux mélange de drôlerie, cynism, drame et tragedy, unique en son genre...

I must reply to the previous poster... because this movie is nowhere as good (or even remotely similar) to Iñarritu's Amores Perros. I liked L'Audition, don't get me wrong, but I felt it was the first time that Picard's acting was lacking. The conversations with his buddy in the car were clearly tarantinoesque, which, normally, would add to the movie, but didn't seem to fit this one at all. I gave this one 6/10.

We watched this movie in my social class (I'm in French Immersion) and I thought it was great! I basically bawled at the end tough. Well, sort of .

Actually, three years later, I have come to the realization that I really don't like this movie!
At all!
