amazing likeness with Marlon Brando

Saw the film yesterday in the Netherlands as part of a French Cine Premieres Festival.
Two things>>Beautiful played by the 2 main actors. It can't be easy to have such intimate scenes with a full cameracrew around you. Well done!
I also noticed the "out of focus" scenes because of digital shooting copied to 35 mm.
But did anyone notice the striking resemblance to a young Marlon Brando in some of the scenes with the actor who played the gamekeeper??

reply

yes i did notice, in two or three scenes. and i think its the eyes, but i am not sure, would like to double check with the dvd of the movie.

I thought this almost immediately upon seeing the gamekeeper and I am really happy to see other people noticed it. I, honestly, think its the structure of the actor's face, especially the nose. I will say, however, that the eyes look strikingly like Brando's as well.

SHE did remind me of Audrey Tautou

reply

I agree. I felt the casting was attempting to imitate Last Tango in Paris.

reply

Yes! That's exactly what i thought...a lot of Parkins attitudes reminded me of Marlon in Last Tango...but of course this movie is no match compared to Bertoluccis work and there will never be another Marlon Brando!!!

(btw...i thought the resemblance was in the mouth and chin)

reply

I can't get onto facebook so I'm amusing myself by reading this numbingly inane message thread.

reply

yes, towards the end when he was actually acting instead of wearing that same stupid expression he had throughout the movie.

reply

I agree; he did resemble Marlon Brando, especially his eyes. I thought this was the best adaptation of the novel I've ever seen...the others pale in comparison.

reply

Very much so - it was the profile and bone structure that reminded me of Brando as well as the brooding attitude.
