Anyone else see this? I loved it!

This movie sparked my interest a while ago and I finally got to see it (even though I had to drive an hour away).

I truly loved it. Three hours of pure bliss. "Lady Chatterley" felt as if it had been made so many years ago and I thought it was such a perfect gem.

I'm not a perv, but I like when filmmakers aren't afraid of the human body, as is so much of America, so the frank nudity was really refreshing in a film.

I'm 20, but this middle-aged couple behind me *beep* at every sexual scene. It was so annoying.

This is an amazing film and definately the best version I have seen. I hope to catch this a few more times in the theater when it plays in my area again. At first, I wasn't sure on the casting of Parkin but by the end I really found myself attracted to him.

I totally agree with you! I found the nudity so refreshing and the sex scenes were so different than they are done in Hollywood - it wasn't about timing, performance or ectasy - it was about the sexual awakening of one character and gradual love blossom between the two leads.

I actually had the opposite thing happen when I saw this film. There was a couple in their late 60s sitting behind me who murmured their appreciation throughout the film and left the theatre hand-in-hand and kissing each other's cheek! I thought that was great!

I loved how the director used colour also. Lady Chatterley wore mostly red but wore a green coat when going for her walks. Parkin was dressed mainly in green and white. Then, after Lady Chatterely had spent the night with him and finally fallen in love with him, she wore her white night dress and her green coat with no red. I really liked how the director used colour - reminded me of House of Flying Daggers.

Beautiful film! Can't wait to see it again!

You know, I never even noticed the color changes in the clothing. I did notice that Lady C was wearing red a lot but I never noticed how her style changed. That observation gave me a whole new appreciation. :)

The wonderful part of this film is the mature and beautiful portrayl of love and sexuality. Many films can arouse a viewer but this works on a different level. I didn't feel that anything seemed forced or unnecessary.

I just rented this from netflix. I thought it was wonderful, beautifully photographed, good acting and it presented the ideas of D.H. Lawrence in an appealing way. Sometimes he goes on a bit too much in his books.

This is a beautiful movie.

I watch a lot of European films, and if sex and nudity assists in the storyline then the Europeans don't hesitate to include it. The best films are about people, and people are about relationships, and relationships include sex. So if you have people and relationships, then you will have nudity and sex.

As an Australian, I am amused by the lack of nudity in American films. It can be a contemporary film about a developing relationship, and somehow they have sex while clothed. I am equally amused by the American actresses who decide not to do nude scenes. In Europe (or Australia), such actresses may have trouble finding a part.

For me, I much prefer sex and nudity and love and passion to violence!

I totally agree with you.
America and most americans (please note: most, not all) have this unexplainable fear of naked bodies.
Just because you're not embarrassed or disgusted(?!?) by a naked body it doesn't make you a perv, I'd say it shows you're a mature and sensible person.

an excellent film

drudashoe913, I agree with you about this film; it was excellent, and I thought it was very faithful to the spirit of the novel. The sexual scenes were very naturally done...nothing obscene or voyeuristic about it at all.

I am a huge fan of French cinema, because I find their films much more interesting than most of our American films. I was talking with a professor about this a few days ago, and he agreed with me. He said that most of our films seem "shallow" in comparison to foreign films.

I also think it is difficult for a lot of people to appreciate a film like Lady Chatterley, because it moves rather slowly. Americans who grew up on the "instant gratification" type of film that moves fast and furiously over the screen usually find it difficult to adjust to "art" films, but I find those much more satisfying.

I loved it too and thought the director's use of photography, light and sounds (so many sounds from birds, insects, water and trees) translated Lawrence's verbal style perfectly. I think Lawrence would have approved of this adaptation very much.

The French and Lawrence really are a perfect fit.🐭
