I happen to like the 1990 version of Cyrano d'Bergerac. To me that's a masterpiece of French cinema.

Romance, intrigue, action, all in a historic period. I'm just sorry Depardieu was so heavy, because he could have stood to lose forty pounds or so to really hit the part properly.

This version of Lady Chatterly is an exceptional production, and nearly every frame is an oil painting, but there are other and better French films out there.
