I've just watched the first episode!

Well the seconed episode really. I only found out last night it was on early saturday morning on GMTV. As for my first impressions, I thought the story and dialogue was good, It's more or less the same as the old series. Unfortunately I thought animation was kind of crude and could have been improved. I also thought the story might be a bit long winded. But overall I think its a good show and it has some potential. They're showing another episode tomorrow at 8:30, I plan to tape it and put it on You Tube so watch this space.

What country is GMTV in? I live in the USA, and I've never heard of this one. Are there any plans to show this show in the USA, or is it the same as the old one?

reply

I've heard the show will begin in Norway in January/February 2007.

GMTV is the Good Morning TV show in Britain, ITV. (Channel 3 on 'regular TV'.) Pretty much the British equivilent of Good Morning America.

And now that's out of the way..

All the changes..maybe it's just me being nostalgic, but is no-one else concerned with the amount of changes? No Greasepit, no Karbunkle or Limburger, Charley's actually a real part of the team now? (I guess to not feel 'sexist' or to make it 'politically correct' in this new generation, although she did help them as part of the team in 'The Masked Motorcyclist'..) The fact that the mice now look..odd. (Modo looks old, Vinnie looks far less buff/has an oddly shaped head, and Throttle..uh.)

Not to mention the 'new' style bikes..what happened to the regular Biker Mice Symbol? That was one of the few things the bikes had in common, now they all seem bastardized. Even Throttle's cool Harley Davidson design was destroyed to be replaced with the Green Travesty. Vinnie still has his bike, but Modo's Easy Rider seems..weird. And the fact that Modo now has a multiple-weapon arm. What was wrong with his original?

And the opening music? Why'd they have to change it? The Biker Mice enjoyed three things; Root Beer, Hot Dogs and Rock Music. Heavy guitar solos and rock defined this series, and they've replaced it with something that sounds like a techno remix. Why? What was the need? It entertained me as a child, are the 4 - 9 year olds of today going to be any worsely influenced/need greater knowledge than I did at that age? Shouldn't the old fans to the serious deserve the traditional rock we grew up listening to on the show?

Still, I guess there are saving graces..like the fact that the mice are voiced by their original actors. That's a blessing.

*Cough.* To finish, these are just all my opinions based on not being able to get over another great cartoon of my childhood (I'm eighteen now, saw and recorded as many of the episodes as I could at the time, and fortunately have a few of the 'Collection Hour' videos) that I feel has been less than paid dear tribute to. It's nice to have the mice back, but I'd have preferred it in a closer style.

Bearing in mind, all those opinions are simply mine, not everyone's, and none of them represent fact. Sorry if I offended anyone.

I agree with you that the style does suck but then nothing stays the same nowadays. I do like the majority of the story lines and I love that they all have the same voices. Plus the big cheese, karbunkle and a few of the original villians have shown up in one or two episodes so far which was very cool! However I will not be happy until they release each and every episode of the originals on dvd!!!!!!!!!! They did it for rainbow brite for pete's sake why on mars not for our furry heroes?!!!!

angel x.

p.s. I totally agree about the good old fashioned rock, but then I am a rock chick at heart so I could be a little biased (plus i'm twenty three and still love watching my old videos!)

I will then. I've only seen the first two and ep 6 I think it is, but the stills on the official website brought up plenty of questions that those few eps mostly increased.

Carbine - Previous - Green eyes, decent curves, rather sexy voice Leah Remini if memory serves. What the blistering barnacles have they Done to that woman?!? She's barely two-dimensional, not a curve in sight and what an over controlling bitch!! I think they may have put the scar in the right place though.

Throttle & Vinnie - Look like teenagers who have had a massive growth spurt 'up' and are waiting for the testosterone to kick in for the 'out'. I never saw all the old eps, (if anyone can help me compile them on homemade DVD would be eternally grateful) but can't recall Vinnie being blatantly Lazy.

Modo - Poor guy looks more like his own uncle or something and Rumpity Dumpster painted him as very aggressive and a bit of a bully with the multiple threats. Why anyone would give a mammajammer a three-wheeled bike has got me beat, seriously. Three-wheelers can't take tight corners, they flip, and more rubber on the road equals less overall speed and more fuel burnt to do what speed it can.

Stoker - I'm glad he has a bigger part, I really loved the old guy, dunno why though he has a really good voice. Putting a little tummy on is realistic, but lets remember that his hair was actually pale with age, it was only dark in Once Upon a Time on Mars which was set at least five years previous to the series it was made. (Three years on Earth and when they arrived they had been wandering the galaxy for unknown period of time). Not sure what to make of his new instability alliance-wise, makes me want to give him a good comforting hug.

Charley - I actually quite like her new hair, it takes more than visual gloss to make a cartoon anime which some people in other places think it's being turned into, and the guys may be ready to treat her more equally. Not sure about the truck, how that garage stays in business I never figured out, never mind affording a swish big rig that Cannot move around those tight streets like that.

Bad Guys - Rump seems a bit daft, but Cataclysm should be good. He's got a great voice, looks quite good and seems to have a brain inside his skull, he's just impeded by his lunatic family. Absolutely LOVE the sounds! Re-Ow!

Plots - Seem pretty good, some eps could show signs of trying too hard to be like the originals but they're doing a decent job of walking a very fine line.

What's the deal with the pointy buck teeth? Modo used to be the only one you could actually tell it was two teeth because one was broken but now they all seem to have both teeth showing because they're all pointed like those jungle people who wreck their teeth because they think it's attractive to be in constant pain and unable to eat properly for half your life until you die young from infection.

Bikes - I can handle the general changes, but being fully computer animated they don't seem to quite fit in with the regular animation, something screwy with the dimension I think, makes my eyes go funny if I look at them too closely. As far as I remember one dimensional is like the comic strips in the paper, 2D is general photography/quality cartoons and 3D is real life.

Rimfire I haven't seen yet but he was still young so he shouldn't have changed much; the originals did make his 16year old in Once Upon a Time marginally younger then the episodes made earlier, mostly noticeable in the length of his hair.

Getting as much of the original cast back as they have is the smartest thing they could have done, we can always close our eyes and pretend they're the same gorgeous hunks we knew but could you watch the old ones with different voices and love them just as much? Good voices are just as important as good animation, in some toons they're all that keeps me from changing the channel.

Oh yes, they all look decidedly rough in the fur which is a turn-off, but ten years without much water to keep it washed Would do that. Doesn't that planet ever get any Peace?! What does every other critter want with it anyway?

I could wish I wasn't Human either

Only episode 6(It's the Pits)is any good, because it has Limburger in it. I hate the new Biker Mice series.
