Can someone explain to me that what was the real reason of his conversion to Islam.. and then what made him to become Hindu again.. ? Do you think either of these religions matter to him in real?

I think the real reason he converted to Islam was because that guy paid off all of his debt and it a was a way to get at Mahatma Gandhi i.e. "Gandhi's eldest son has become a Muslim, Shock horror!" etc but when his mother came to meet him and said something along the lines of "why are you giving us so much shame, dharm chorna" that's when he decided to clean his act up and convert back to Hinduism.

Probably to gain his father's attention who was busy attending to the needs of muslims in India. Probably to attach his name to his father's name on a national level in one way or another. To redeem himself. Religions obviously didn't matter to him for what they really are. Probably he did it to discover who he was and was experimenting with things that might reveal his true-self to him.
