So Would you do Malcolm ?

Honestly Ladies (and/or gents)

am I the only one who finds Capaldi incredibly gorgeous?
Somehow the Malcolm Character adds to his overall appeal, a testament I guess to his tremendous acting skills

Sorry for drooling all over a perfectly drool-free board :D

Anyone with me on this?

Hmmm, y'know, I think I might. Capaldi may not be traditionally beautiful, but he sure is charismatic, and, yeah, Malcolm's quite sexy, in an alpha male, as-long-as-he's-not-shouting-at-me kind of way. And he looks *lovely* in a tux...

I quite like Ollie, as well. Although I don't think he's sexy, whereas Malcolm is. Chris Addison, who plays Ollie, is quite cute, though. For a skinny posh boy who looks about 12.

Hell, what do I know? When I was younger, I used to have a bit of a thing for Chris Langham...

I am sooooo relived to come across this thread, I was worried I was the only person watching the show and thinking, oooh, that's really quite nice...!

So the answer is hell, yes, definitely. Especially as I like to (secretly) imagine that he'd have as much enthusiasm in the bedroom as he does at work...

Just wanted to add - there is a deleted scene in S3.ep8 where the DoSAC lot are reading all the newspapers after Malcolm's 'resignation' and it includes a story about Malcolm being something of a womaniser and (sorry for paraphrasing but I can't find the actual quote online) Olly reads out a line from a tabloid in which one woman claimed that Malcolm had "womanised her three times in one day in the gazebo at Chequers."

Personally, I quite enjoyed that scene...

Seemed like an appropriate thread to mention this on!

What d'you think? Is the Malcolm Tucker app worth four quid? This interview - http://tinyurl.com/3a2e3tu - suggests extended value through updates, if the popularity continues. Pricey but it's had great reviews and I spend more in bloody Pret anyway!

Merry Christmas.

''Hell yes. *And* Jamie. ''

lol Agreed. Scottish men eh?

I cant say I find anything in Ollie thought
Just not very...I don't know -not virile enough

Malcolm in a tux was truely the cherry on the top of an already quite edible sundae :D

Langham does have a kind puppy dog thing going I guess :p

reply

Hmm, I like your description of Ollie "not virile enough" - perfect!! The antithesis of Malcolm Tucker.

To be fair, it's not really Ollie I like, it's Mr Addison. And with 2 kids, he's probably proved his virility!!

(P.S. Thanks for not running away when I mentioned the whole Chris Langham being attractive thing!)

I've seen him in interviews, he seems quite down to earth and charming,I get how he can be appealing, and he comes across as very natural on screen.

hehe
He's alright really- quite sweet somehow, but then I've only seen him on TTOI and on ''shrink rap'' -the latter inspired a lot of empathy towards him- so I might be biased a bit by that

Just to further prove my point, heres a *yummy* screenshot of Peter Capaldi back in 1993

''Can you tell me where the 1993 of Peter Capaldi is from?''

: Its part 8 of a series called ''The Comic Strip Presents''

the episode is called ''jealousy''

Capaldi plays this insanely jealous husband who will go to extreme lengths (such as dressing up as a woman) to find up what his wife is up to.

I've compiled a few screencaps from the show(sorting through these and trying to keep just the best ones was akin to a visit to the optometrist when they ask you ''this lens or that one'' and the view is equally freaking sweet from either one ,but anywho-)

So Ive trimmed this down to 7 darkened-room worthy [] juicy bits

Peter Capaldi, if you read this, I don't mean to objectify you and reduce your artful skills to mere eye-candy proportions but umm...Alright,alright that IS exactly what I mean to do- at least for the duration of this post [] no harm intended

Okay, so firstly, I made the links clickable. Be a shame to waste such fabulous shots.

Secondly...wow. LOVE the great hair one. Definitely lying down in a darkened room, now!! I truly think that the reason Malcolm Tucker is so hot is that he's such an Alpha Male!!!

I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets

reply

Thanks so much for making the links clickable-I don't know how to do that..

And yes Tucker is very much the Alpha-male , whereas Capaldi in interviews has a more intellectual kind of charisma..

But even the Malcolm character ,I feel has at the very core of him ,a very British sense of good-ole self-derision which keeps him likeable , beacause if he took himself TOO seriously it could turn to beeing plain obnoxious.

(And to those who would argue that Malcolm Tucker is already obnoxious, I'd still say he is more dutiful -albeit in a very extreme way- than anything else)

As he said in the finale '' Just because someone has to kill people for a living doesn't make him a killer''

I think it sums him up real well, and in that sense, the ''Alpha-Maleness'' of the character gains a certain heroic quality , in the sense that he is willing to go to epic lenghts to do what he believes in- And THAT'S quite appealing.

That beeing said- and dreaming aside, if I were ever to clash courses with a ''real-life'' Malcolm Tucker , It would probably end in blows, as I'm the sort of person that actually enjoys a good Tucker-style shouting spree once in a while, so it sort of might be more dangerous than sexy in real life-

But man - *beep* real life- let's enjoy those pictures............

I'll confess to not having read the whole thing, I've not had the time for it yet..However the bits I have read seem very well-written and true to the spirit of TTOI.

Always amazed to see the ammount of effort that goes into fan fiction

Would be funny to see Malcolm get some...Take a bit of pressure off

reply

[deleted]

I'm going to have to set aside some time for this. I'm quite intrigued by a Torchwood / TTOI fan fic, too. Although it'd probably involve Captain Jack sleeping with everyone!

Battle - I agree, fanfiction does take a lot of effort. I have written only 1, based on ER, (which you can actually find on FanFiction.net, should you be so inclined ) and it took me AGES to write. I would love to write more, but I just don't have the time.

And I find that the problem is that, by the time I've thought about the story arc, canon has changed (LOST is a perfect example of this - by the time I've constructed the story, 3 of the characters have died, one's changed into a bad guy, and I have to start again!)

The person who wrote the TTOI fanfic has had some good reviews, so hopefully she'll continue to post...

Anyway - back on topic (sort of!)

Would be nice to see a bit more of Malcolm though, I reckon. Just one slip - like in the last season where we saw him at home etc - be nice to see him, say, eye up a woman, or get flustered when someone asks him something etc. I did like the scene with Emma and Ollie, when he was trying to cook her a romantic dinner and she really wasn't interested. There was some good interation between the actors (I loved the bit where she moves behind him and he thinks she's getting up to kiss him) and it was interesting to see just a little bit more about their private lives. (And I thought Chris Addison looked rather lovely in that jumper - nice not to see him in a suit!! )

Slash can work sometimes, but you're right, puffin: sometimes the pairings are just so wrong! I understand there are about a million Harry/Draco pairings on FF.net. I've always thought this strange - these two quite clearly can't stand each other. They're not hiding secret desires. Harry and RON, however...

I can't see Malcolm and Jamie. I'm not sure who I could see Malcolm with. I'll have to get back to you on that!

although I would, at a very visceral level, enjoy this....I must agree that it just wouldn't fit :P

As that sentence implies, I can see Malcolm and Jamie. Maybe Malcolm is actually married to Jamie, I quite like to think so.

In answer to the OP's question, no.....Malcolm would do me.

just to confuse matters - would you do alistair campbell?

(i won't even propose mandelson okay, i'm not a total sadist)

reply

Alistair Campbell, no. I wouldn't.

But I do have to admit that I do have a bit of a thing for Peter Mandelson. I've had it for a while and even the knowledge that he doesn't bat for my team hasn't lessened my shameful desire...

Sorry. Hope that didn't make you ill!

i admire your bravery in admitting that - even online and quite anonymously! mandelson with the 'tache or without?

there was something disgustingly thrilling about seeing him discipline ed balls on camera - did you see that at the beginning of the election? freaky

and just for the record yes to campbell for me - powerful men; what can i say...they get me everytime

i should go now - starting chapter four

fionulla

reply

ooh no - not with the 'tache...that's just wrong. ( or, perhaps, *more* wrong?!)

Would have LOVED to have seen him tell Mr Balls off - Mandy's got this quiet, scary voice, which would terrify me to be on the receiving end. (Opposite to Malcolm Tucker, whose forcefullness and use of language is what's scary). Unfortunately, I'm temporarily relocated in San Francisco, so haven't been able to catch nearly enough election coverage.

I do understand the powerful men thing, though. Everyone baulked and sneered with revulsion when Antonia de Sancha had a fling with David Mellor because he's no looker, but my Mum says she met him at some Tory thing or another, and found him to be the most intelligent, interesting and charming man. For some people, it's not about the way they look, but brains and power.

Hence my little crush on Mr Mandelson.

Mr Portillo's rather interesting, too, I reckon...

not playing perv-poker or anything but have just bought a bio of disraeli and i have to say if i had been a victorian lady - rather than the mouthy fishwife i probably would have been back then - he would have got the fan-based flirting of his life. what do you think?

Bella - welcome to the gang. I'm sure Battle Blouse is chuffed to bits that there are more of us out there than originally perceived. LOVE the thought of Malcolm womanising people several times a day!

And Disraeli is certainly cute, Grisette - and with his brains, he'd be a definite target for some serious flirting! I read the other day about the lady that groped President Obama and said he was a hottie. Now *there's* a woman after my own heart!!

One of my friends, who often shares my slightly off-kilter crushes, said that my thing for Jamie was one of the few weird crushes she couldn't get on board with.
