OST: 'THE HOURS' Vs 'ALICE'

Piano melody from "ALICE" sounds too close to "THE HOURS" Original Soundtrack, don´t you think?

Kind of a Ripoff, isnt it??

Nice portuguese movie, loved how Lisbon was filmed. Great directing from marco martins, pretty close to Alejandro González Iñárritu, from Amores perros and 21 Grams, and Gus Van Sant form Elephant and Last Days.

Errr... "The Hours" ost is pretty good and I'm sure whoever did it is a good musician, but Bernardo Sassetti is a great jazz musician and honestly I don't think he needs to "rip off". The mood for both records is similar, but apart from that they're very different recordings. If what you say was true, then probably The Hours ost ripped off someone else too.

While I agree with the Iñarrittu reference (only in terms of cinematography), I can't see any similarities with Gus Van Sant.

I see more similarities to lots of asian cinema.

I saw The Hours yesterday. The music is from Philip Glass. It was funny because i didn't know it and I was thinking "it sounds just like Philip Glass". Very good music indeed.
But if I came here to post it was to say that your ripoff stance is very unfair. You probably didn't watch many movies of this kind. You would have to say the same about Michael Nyman (The Piano) and lots of other OST's out there.

there's a part in the movie where the music consists of strings (violins cellos etc) which kind of do an arpeggio-based melody. it reminded me greatly of the The Fountain score, although obviously i know that both are unrelated.

it's a dirty world Reich, say what you want
