This movie is 10 stars! Do not believe the bad rating.

Hi,

I think people who were offended by the movie and its story voted a low rating.

This movie is really beautiful!

Give it a chance.

reply

Perhaps they are giving it a bad rating simply because they don't like the film, and not because of the anti-Catholic genre of the film. But yeah, it could also be that they don't like the 'offending' nature of the film.

I'm not Catholic but I wouldn't say this movie is anti-Catholic at all (hasn't affected my opinion on Catholics either way) I'd say it's more anti Dark Ages, but then again who isn't?

In any case the movie's subject matter is interesting - it makes me thankful for the freedom we now take for granted. I wouldn't have lasted very long in the 9th century - either driven to madness or killed for my insubordination!

Anyway, loved the cinematography and thought Johanna Wokalek did a great job, considering the movie is over 2 hours long it was very well paced too.

Still baffled as to why Catholics would find this offensive - it is fiction - some times the truth is actually much worse!!

Simply because perfection is unattainable forced to give this movie a 9/10.

Dear ella leona:

Kindly read my posts as to why I find it offensive as a Roman Catholic. Please note what/whom inspired this fiction.

As to the film standing as a work of art on its own merits; sadly I felt it needed more depth. As if something was missing. I was not happy with the narration. The over all feeling of the piece was very stiff and stagey. Just my opinion.

10 stars?
What part of this film entitles it to 10 stars? I would like to know because I sure don't see it.

apart from whether it's cheap - low budget movie, poor act,
mis-casting, controversial, etc - I like this movie.

it opens my eyes, that there must had been :
a father like her father,
a woman whose effort to do good & her patience was remarkable
a conflict which happened inside the church
a miracle that God did misteriously

watch this movie and take the essence ..:)

Although I don't believed it should get 10 stars, I do believe this was a good movie and have voted it as a 7.

The only offensive part was the actual film, which includes:

Awful writing
Ridiculous plotting
Horrible acting
Cliches on cliches...

other than that - oh yeah, looked cheap as hell.

So, no redeeming features what.so.ever.

I do not give a fook about religion or god, but as a film this was very good, much better than the jew made trash we get fed everyday!

Id seen this movie sitting on the shelf at one of the places where I buy my blu-ray movies. Id wanted to get it and watch it as I love history and found that time period one of the most interesting. So I finally bought it yesterday, just watched it today.

Unfortunately I was let down. While the cinematography was beautiful, the sets were excellent, the costuming was gorgeous and the story interesting, the acting was pretty bad and the ending felt rushed and forced and a bit far fetched.

This movie could have been so much better than it actually was, it was just lacking in the acting department and the dialogue and ending

I love movies... And love stories set in the past... But this movie was a let down for the reasons stated above. I liked this movie, and I really wanted to love it. Infact I also bought Lincoln the same day as I bought this movie, and I chose to watch this movie first. Thats how much I wanted to love this film.

Still, its worth a watch for the things that were great about this movie.
