Tilda Swinton - born for this role

Any news of the cast?

reply

Wow. Just heard about plans for this movie when I looked up the '72 movie starring Liv Ullman. Totally agree - Tilda Swinton, perfect!

I think Tilda Swinton has "the look", but wonder if she would be able to pull off Joan as a teenager or very young woman. The author actually prefers Franke Potente (sp?) as the lead.

reply

I agree - I think Tilda is too old. I like Franke Potente a lot for this role. She can look young enough, but has a wise visage... she's also not "traditionally" beautiful, which is how Joan is described.

I'm really anxious to see who is cast. This movie has the potential to be so very good ~ I can't wait!

I'D love to see Tilda Swinton, but just heard the news on the radio that Franka Potente is to play Pope Joan. (I think that sucks!)

I'm glad Franka got the role. I'm tired of Tilda Swinton's and Cate Blanchett's ultra-white, washed out look in these period pieces. Nothing against white people, or transparently pale people, but it's nice to see someone who doesn't look inbred now and then.

Also very happy Franka got the role! She is definitely underrated as an actress and I'd like to see her get her due here in the states!

Tilda is much too old. Read the book.
