Gillian Kearney's very questionable American accent

My god, Gillian Kearney's American accent was terrible! Who thought of casting her when they could have just got an American actress in to do the part!? Her accent kept slipping into her native Irish tongue far too often and most of the words were desperately forced out to the point where they sounded like the voice on a automated phone line. I'm not a big critic of Gillian though, she has been excellent in other productions. Which is, I guess, why she was so disappointing in this...

I always judge a film on wether or not I would watch it again, and although it was an 'alright' way to spend an hour and a half, I wouldn't watch it again to be honest. Too many unconvincing character relationships and not enough drive towards really capturing the passion and thrill of football, and men's obsession with the drama of it all. And Vinnie Jones' part was too poorly written. He didn't get enough screen time as the 'man inside Danny Dyer's head' and his character let his undoubted, though not very flexible, talent down. See 'Snatch' if you doubt his ability.

If you want to see a great comedy football film then go no further than either 'Mike Basset: England Manager', with the brilliant Ricky Tomlinson, or 'Mean Machine', which is another film that showcases Vinnie Jones' surprising ability. How often do you see footballers end up as film stars!? Cantona yes, btu who else!?
