A Guild Wars movie?

Would that work?

I would love to see one, I don't play games that much any longer, but I love the Guild Wars universe, and I am a movie fanatic.

Any opinions?

Could work, with some liberties taken....or it could be as horrible as most other 'game-to-movie' adaptations....and one when I think of this genre in particular? Dungeon Siege...by said director who shall remain nameless..*shudder*

My only thought would be if they were to try to undertake translating this story into a movie would be that they would have to trim it down immensely, and I'm afraid that a lot of details would be lost. Tracking it from Pre-searing where the story establishes some pretty important details and characters (let alone laying the groundwork for pretty much everything after) to all the plot-essential events in Ascalon (missions bring to mind some important details, such as Fort Ranik) and the Northern Shiverpeaks (introducing the Dwarven involvement) to Kryta (introduction of the White Mantle and the Scepter/Lich plotline), then the Chosen branch in Maguuma, and finally the betrayal and flight to the Crystal Desert... Well, right there, that could be a movie in itself..and that's only about half the storyline.

In slimming it down, though, I think that important details would be lost and all the die hard fans would either hate it or it would completely exclude any audience that didn't know much about the game before going in. True, this could be somewhat alleviated by a short foreword or something of that sort..but as you can see, there is still a large amount of material to cover.

Could it ever be made into a movie? Sure, it probably could, but in a strange way, I'm hoping they either leave this one alone or only do it when it's figured out to a happy medium.

Or, they get superb directors, writers and producers. Get a ton of money, and make it a trilogy :P

Nice Thought a trilogy would be fantastic ^^. We could be looking at something that can top or even be as great as the Lord of The Rings. Or even good enough they could make a t.v. series, but I doubt many would like tht. But yea making a series would be awesome. Searing, Crystal Desert, The ending haven't played in a while forgot all the awesome story to this awesome game. They could even make a Factions one or whatever a movie would be awesome though.

Seeing how the Dungeon Siege movie turned out (Yeah, I know, it's Boll), I didn't have many hopes for future RPG/MMO based movies.

I used to play Dungeons and Dragons, but after that damn film came out I can't even bear to think about it anymore, so maybe a GW film is not a good idea. Although I think if it did it should definetly have Gwen's story from the bonus mission pack :)
