This movie DOES insult your intelligence *SPOILERS*

The plot is well-conceived and executed right up until the point they start describing how the virus works. Even if he was a carrier and it had mutated to the point where there was no hope for him, there is no way in HELL that any scientists could figure out that much about a virus in a few days. We can't even detect most common viruses until they manifest symptoms, so the idea that this mystery contagion can be solved in a few days is asinine. It takes months or years for them to fully map and solve a virus. Why do you think with "Mad Cow" disease they just killed all of the cattle? Because at the time they had a name for it, but had no %*^&ing idea exactly how it worked and since it would've taken way too long to figure it out the safest option is to cull the population and solve it later. The entire role of the CDC (and similar agencies in other countries) is more of a reactive than a proactive one. Furthermore, virus mutation in even the most prolific virus strands takes a long time, so there is no way in hell him sealing the house for a few days would've made any difference to it; That also would take months or years. Contagion wasn't a great film, but at least they did their homework. This movie was a %*$#ing joke and just insulting with how little they bothered to present any information in an even pseudo-scientific way. It's like they're trying to pull the wool over your eyes the same way the government is in the film. The acting was well done, but that's about it. A very good idea that was poorly executed. Even reading a first year chemistry book or a single book on microbiology would have explained enough to make the plot way better. I don't expect movies to be totally realistic, but when it's about a terrorist attack and presented in a realistic fashion, you have to do your homework. 3/10 at best.

I agree with the holes in the film, but it was entertaining.

Try not to read everything into a film, you will never enjoy it.

I agree, and I'd like to add some things.

- They kept talking about chemicals, which can't be "virulent". Viruses aren't chemicals, chemicals aren't viruses.
- Viruses don't grow in environments like houses, they grow in organisms. Certain bacteria and fungi could do it, though.

ps. I suspect you know this, but Mad Cow isn't caused by a virus, but by a prion.

Maybe the govt already knew what it was and was just lying to the public...

Why is there no hope for him? As a carrier, he wouldn't become sick and die. I don't think people actually know what a "carrier" is.

However, he would cause a problem for everyone around him.

So...I shouldn't show this movie in Bio, then? It was still a pretty good horror.
